Well, it's fairly safe to say that those who will not feature in this game are Ben Arfa (who may never feature for DD), Nasri, Mvila and Menez. The question is who will take their spots in the mean time. Amalfitano? Gourcuff? Remy for certain. Gonalons?

it's a friendly and a first match, the most useful list is not necessarily the strongest list. ever play mastermind?

i like the idea of calling varane. also jallet whom i have long appreciated. (even when PSG fans wanted to can him).

from a lyon standpoint i think he has it right. gomis and briand are players blanc was wrong to disconsider. gonalons has real potential... and also looked good in his first appearances for france. and leaving off gourcuff, i approve. if he's going to get to his best level he needs the press to leave him alone for at least a couple of months.

So if this is a chance to look at some promising young uncapped players, then where is Griezmann???

I'm a fan of talent, regardless of what league someone plays in. I like Ligue 1 also but do you not think its important that Griezmann plays very well in LaLiga? He's played great against the likes of Barca!! Les Bleus have very important matches coming up against Spain in order to qualify for the World Cup. It would be great to have him as a backup for Ribery.

Griezmann is pretty good but I guess my point is that I wont care too much about Les Bleus until most of the team is made up of L1 players. If it never happens again then so be it. I'm not French so I'm not gonna support the team regardless of who plays where. I need an insentive to be interested.

I have a hard time grasping that. So let's get rid of Benzema, Ribery, Giroud, Cabaye etc since Ligue 1 is such a powerful league hih? So would you have been in favor of Zidane being dropped from the squad after his Bordeaux career or Henry after Monaco?

not much in the midfield in terms of a playmaker. i cant see DD not using 2 strikers up top with this list, also since he hinted about teaming benzema with either giroud or gomis apparently. no mexes is a bit of a surprise but then again his euro was pretty poor. and no rami either. i guess didier wants to build something from scratch in the back 4.

The best players should be picked regardless of where they are from. All I am saying is that me personally I am more interested in following the team when there are more L1 players chosen. L1 isnt close to being a powerful league and probably the national team would be worse if it were mostly L1 players. Let me repeat again. I am not French thus I will not blindly support the national team under any circumstances. I need an insentive to pay attention to them and a lot of L1 players chosen is an insentive for me to be interested. If its not the best players then so be it, Im only a casual fan anyway.

Rami wasn't chosen due to an injury.

Like SportBoy said, DD needs to just pick the most in form players. For now Koscielny, Kaboul, Yang-Mbwia, and Rami will be four central defenders chosen when healthy. But we have alot of young talent at the centre defense, so they better keep playing at their current high levels of play.

i never watch la liga so my viewpoint is badly stunted. but what i've seen of griezmann with the bleuets make me tend to dislike him. he farts higher than his butt while 15 other players outhustle, outthink and outplay him. he might not have the same attitude in A but it looks to me (i repeat, on very limited evidence) that the boy has a bad case of mélonite.

Guys, I'm curious to know what the French media and people feel about Evra since his mutiny in 2010? Any thoughts on him potentially facing Uruguay? This should be a great game. I live for International football and have huge respect for these 2 famous footballing nations.

Just a little history between both football nations as a preview. Love doing these things:

France- 65 million people (about the size of the UK)
    - 1x FIFA World Champions
    * 5x World Cup Semi Finalists
    - 2x Euro Winners
    * Hosts of 1938 and 1998 FIFA World Cup

Uruguay- 3 million people (about 1/2 of Scotland)
    - 4x FIFA World Champion (official, since 1924 and 1928= only Olympics hosted by FIFA and played with professionals)
    * 5x World Cup Semi Finalists
    - 15x Copa America winners (record)
    - 1x FIFA World Cup Champions Cup (1980)
    * Host and Winners of 1st FIFA World Cup 1930

Allez les bleus et the celeste :)
