Who is the guy who narrates the CL highlights show? It's one stupid comment after another. Uttered something about Group C being the group of death today. lol

Rogandino. I noticed while he was reading one highlight - I think Benfica - it was as if he was seeing it for the first time as the guy he was about to say had scored - didn't! but he caught it. Nice. I don't understand why they can't have Warren and Christopher do a breakdown for the Highlights show even if it's only one game.

Sometimes I wonder if these guys and gals that work there really have a passion for soccer(?). You'd think they must. They're not doing it for the money or Winnipeg-living, surely.

It must be a much more difficult job than it seems.

Or they're near or at the bottom of the barrel of their profession, and that's all that the channel can afford.

Of course it's a difficult job! What in the world would make you think it isn't?

(And FSC's personnel are in Los Angeles, not Winnipeg.)

    I didn't say it wasn't.

    Equally bad IMO.

Right, I know. That's why I wrote, "what WOULD make you think it isn't?"

You said that the job can "seem" not difficult... so I'm just wondering what can make it seem that way.

I think it has a moderate amount of difficulty, like most jobs. But some of them are making it seem very difficult. I think if someone has a passion for soccer then a lot of the difficulty is removed.

Working with something you love can make the job more enjoyable, certainly, even more rewarding, but by no means does it make the job easier. And "enjoyable" is relative anyway: No matter how much you love something, the fact that it becomes a job always risks diminishing it on a personal level. (Think of the proverbial "jaded music critic," or the bartender who comes to hate drinking, or the pastry chef who eventually detests the smell of cake.)

Being on the clock always changes the dynamics. It's easy for us to forget that as fans. It's one thing to say, "Hell yeah, I'd love to get paid to sit around talking about soccer." It's something else altogether to do it on command, backed by the right amount of research, conveyed with the appropriate confidence and authority, with bosses in your ear and some jerk you can't stand on your set, in eternal good spirits even when your wife just served the divorce papers... all with the pressure of an audience watching you.

I'm not saying these guys are toiling like coal miners or arguing cases before the Supreme Court. And by no means am I saying they all do good jobs. (This is called the "stupidity thread" for a reason.) I'm just saying that, yes -- doing this stuff is harder than it often looks, and while "passion" might help make it personally satisfying, it's not some automatic ticket to success.

yeah - they're still working within the constraints of TV incl. commercial breaks and sponsor mentions and UEFA demands and the like.

fs+ has cleaned their act up a little bit. their god awful bottom line now runs through its cycle once instead of a set amount of time which was approximately 5 minutes.

it still pops up every 10 minutes and they are still running it on live and premiere games from competitions such as the Aviva Premiership, Magners League, and ITM Cup. keep that shit off the screen!

their definition of news is hilariously liberal too.

What fox needs to larn to do is if a show is lets say 35min late and it has not been shown let then show it at a later date or time or put it on fsc+ if anything and put some thing at the boturm that says this show can be seen on fsc+ or at later date. but like the paeson above me said i also can not wrate untel the wps is gone no bodey Watches it.
