Luchi's playing and the THunder have a decent start to their season.

    http://usl1.uslsoccer.com/home/246122.html

Both teams had many opportunities, Luchi Gonzalez headed a ball just over the net in the 41st minute off a ball from Sanchez. Andrew Barron attempted a chip shot to Marcina, but hit it just far for the Rhino defenders in the 50th minute.

D-Wass had a nice free kick that led to a goal in SV Meppen's recent game against St. Pauli II. You can see it at http://emsland-1.de/ First click on Emsland eins GOAL-SVM vs. St. Pauli II over on the left. Then, unless you know German, you probably will only be interested in watching from 1:45 until about the 4:00 minute mark.

    Leo Cullen is an agent

    http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_by_ives/2008/05/miami-fc-signs.html

"We're excited by the opportunity Miami FC has provided for Eric to begin his first professional campaign," said Leo Cullen, Brunner's agent. "As proven by his recent call up to the Olympic team, Eric has a fantastic career ahead of him, and the games he'll compete in for Miami this summer will further his development and experience."

Jovan Kirovski, forward, now with San Jose. Do you know how long I've been waiting to write that name in the former Rapids thread?

Melvin Tarley got a goal; he and Luchi Gonzalez started for the MN Thunder in their 3-1 win over Miami FC @ the NSC in Blaine,MN (Thunder recently moved there; pretty much out of the blue).

“I needed to get out [of Colorado],” said Kirovski. “And I’m very excited to play for someone like Frank Yallop, who has been around, played at the highest level, and his track record speaks for itself. And I’ve heard a lot of good things about him. He’s a player’s coach, and he’s somebody I respect, so it’s great for me here.”

Jovan started yesterday for San Jose and came out in the 74th minute. The player that replaced him, former Ft. Lewis star John Cunliffe, scored San Jose's only goal after replacing Jovan. Kelly Gray entered in the 71st minute, and finished the match for San Jose.

How nice of you to not mention the various just-plain-mean things the announcers said about him and his style of play (or lack there of). I hope he still turns the corner and produces for them but I'll bet that after getting him based on his resume and (long) past performances they feel like someone that bought a concert ticket to see a great band from the '70s and went to the show just to discover some garage band had bought the name and was now touring with it? ;>)

On edit, I forgot to mention that there were so many former Rapids in that match or mentioned during the telecast that it was like an old-timer's game. ;>)

Nottingham Forest striker Junior Agogo is on the verge of completing a move to Eygptian side Zamalek, skysports.com understands.

The striker is currently on international duty with Ghana, but has been given permission by the GFA (Ghana Football Association) to leave the national side's camp to hold talks with Zamalek.

The Egyptians have identified Agogo as the man to replace Wigan-bound Amr Zaki and are ready to offer the 28-year-old a four-year contract.

Agogo has been an enigma at Forest but had come on the last half of the season... I'm not sure how I feel about this latest development...

Anyone know what Cleatus is up to now? His Greek club barely avoided relegation. He's available on a free now.

    From the Rapids Weekly Update:

Rapids fans attending the club's training sessions might also have recognized a familiar face from the past who has been training with the club recently. Former midfielder Seth Trembly, who played with Colorado from 2000-2004 and lives in the area, has been keeping in shape and polishing his skills with the club.

I think the FC era could be made complete by signing Seth Trembly and starting him over C. Gomez for the rest of the year.
