Did we duck a bullet? Did Spenny miss an opportunity? Perhaps both?

I also enjoyed his speed but his first touch was like a sledgehammer.

I'm confused - aren't the rules that, if a team adds a waived player to their roster in-season, they have to compensate us? Shouldn't we be the ones getting the draft pick?

I thought players could only be picked up off waivers free during the waiver draft at the end of the season. Maybe I've got it backwards.

NY ships Ballouchy to San Jose for a 2013 international spot and a 2013 conditional draft pick.

So Ballouchy has been traded for:

    Beckerman -> Kandji -> draft pick+int slot

If I make it to Vegas before the MLS Cup I will in all seriousness lay some cash down on the Red Bulls to win it.

Probably old news, but I just stumbled upon Josh Janniere's twitter account. He's back in Toronto and plays for TFC's academy team: http://twitter.com/Joshjanniere07

Terry Cooke is coaching youth soccer for Trebol (Lafayette, CO) - too far for my kids to go for practice, or we would have changed clubs. Terry is a great coach!

"the coaching he receives at Trebol, which counts former Rapids players Marcelo Balboa and Terry Cooke among its instructors." http://www.bocopreps.com/fall-sports/boyssoccer/ci_21233312

Kyle Beckerman is apparently one of the 5 best d-mids eligible for the Nats. And yes that is how many of them J.K. is starting (hope O.P. isn't watching). ;>)

What kind of shape is he in? The Rapids could maybe use him.

If I remember correctly, a knee (?) injury ended his career in Azerbaijan.

Correct. Cooke is also involved (maybe in just an unofficial/advisory capacity) with the Rapids Academy/youth. Or at least he was last year, I don't know if that's changed under Pareja/Cabrera.

    Cooke's also a semi-regular at the Class VI/Pid Army tailgate. :)

Before his recent shoulder injury, Jacob Peterson was having his best career year in KC, with 3 goals and an assist in under 700 minutes. He was scoring as many goals/90' as Bunbury.

Stevenage had a large amount of player turnover (14 players or so), with some players moving on to join their old manager, some apparently as part of a re-shaping of the roster. The supposedly preferred formation and style of play of the new coach? Possession-oriented 4-5-1.

They started the season with a draw, of course.

Quincy was a vintage coked up hamster last night. (Click the spoiler button for a description of his exploits.)

He entered as a sub for Hassli at the start of the 2nd half. Wiedeman made a nice turn and cross from the right side of the box to the left, setting up Amarikwa nicely on the left. Quincy promptly struck the ball into the outside of the post for a goal kick.

Later in the half a ball got loose in the box off a set piece; Amarikwa took a side kick forcing the ball down where it short hopped Sanchez for a tying goal.

Then a black cat ran across TFC's goal and it was all downhill from there.
