Of course it is. If I had to pick one or the other, gimme the Shield.

Alternate View from Reddit: NYRB on-track to finish with 44 points & 5th in the East (13th Overall) for 2014...

By the way, their defense of Supporters' Shield will likely end around September...

Unless they can pull off a streak of 12W-1T-1L or better, in their remaining games.

Well, you already had the answer actually...

For instance, the presentation of 2013 Wooden Spoon to D.C. United,
can be taken up by the fans groups of NYRB (being their Chief Rivals for the Atlantic Cup).

The perfect opportunity in 2014 season can be on Sep-10,
when NYRB takes on D.C. at the RBA (as the only such game in 2014 no less)
    .

Coincidentally, as the Winners of 2013 Supporters' Shield, NYRB fans can add even more spice to this occasion by displaying the GIGANTIC SS banner for themselves, alongside the HUGE Spoon for D.C. :ROFLMAO:

The contrast can't be starker than this!! :p

Time to track the Playoffs Scenarios for NYRB in 2014?

If the scores of the Most Recent Meetings of NYRB vs the remaining opponents hold, as at Aug-17, they are projected to finish the Regular Season with a record of 11W-10T-13T (46 points), good for 4th in the East (9th Overall) for another shot at MLS Cup. :)

    Details as below:

Projection of NYRB's remaining games by Most Recent Meetings in 2014, 2013 or even 2012 (for opponents from the Opposite Conference):

That would be a run of 5W-3L-3T for their last 11 games (18 points),
adding on top of the current 6W-7L-10T through Aug-17 (28 points),
for an eventual record of 11W-10L-13T (46 points). ;)

Not good enough to defend the Supporters' Shield won in 2013, though the MLS Cup would be the focus this season, as always.

    So?

    Who cares?

The point isn't to do the thing that's the toughest, it's to win the trophy that represents achieving the ultimate goal.

Any plans on parading the Shield Banner for NYRB and the Wooden Spoon for DCU during the game on Sep-10? :p

WELL, the Shield is more meaningful (the Ultimate) to me as its the closest we thing have to winning the league.

And for the record.... sneaking into an easy to make playoff system, getting hot for a few matches and winning the cup would be nice as well.

We made the MLS Cup Final once. That's the closest we've ever come to winning the league.

Will the Welcome Banner be presented during the game vs DC later? ;)
(before finally relinquishing the SS to Seattle/L.A. in a few weeks time...)
