I got fired by Roma 12 games in. After a great start, beating Milan away in the San Siro in the first game of the season, I drew 7-8 games in a row. Then played Inter, got a man sent of, hit the woodwork twice and got beat 1-0. I was fired. Before the game I held a team meeting, Totti spoke sense, De Rossi backed him up and the whole squad were fine except Osvaldo. He spoke and upset everyone leading into the Inter game. Bitch! lol

I tried to play really attacking football which was the problem. It is very hard to play possession football at a high tempo and create lots of chances on target. I played

    -----------------CB--------------CB----------------

    RWB-------------------DM---------------------LWB

    ------------CM--------------------CM----------------

    ------------------------AM-----------------------------

    ----------------CF------------CF-----------------------

Anyone ever tried it? It does work very well against weak sides. I did revert back to flat back 4 for bigger games but switched this up during games if needed. It was 2 attacking to work, or given time would it work better?

the problem with the diamond formation in FM is that the strikers don't close down the fullbacks. next time you play that formation, check analysis at half time and look how many passes the opposition fullbacks completed

what i do is i manually set my strikers to manmark the fullbacks. so while attacking it looks like a regular 4-1-2-1-2 diamond formation. but when defending, it looks like a 4-1-4-1 with my AMC up top and my two strikers tracking the opposition fullbacks

i actually use this as my defensive formation

Well I took up the first job I could get after getting fired, Haugesund in Norway who were already relegated to Division 1 with 2 games to go, their league is a summer league.

I have changed the tactics to a flat back 4, the two centre forwards I am playing as a RF and LF with inside forward roles. I will try and get them to man mark the side backs.

They actually ahve a left back who attracts a lot of attention from decent clubs, Joakim Vage Nilsen is his name. Only 20 and must have potential to develop but I have turned them down. They have another decent player, havard storbaek plays midfield. If you are ever playing with a smaller side, these guys should be decent enough additions.

Only been with them for a few months and Standard Leige are looking me  but I will turn them down and try and get this side back up lol

i've actually done that. it works great, but it's hard to find players who can play RF/LF (they need to be completely natural on the wing AND striker roles. being natural only on one role is not enough)

the reason i don't play RF/LF's as often is because my top scorer (paloschi) can only play striker so i can't play him as RF/LF. so for me it's better to play 2 strikers and have them man mark the fullbacks, but playing RF/LF as inside forwards works too if you have the depth

I already had a decent striker/winger in the squad called Nikola Djurdjic, stats 1-15's so very good for this level. I signed a player called Nikola Saric on a free, a striker who used to play for Liverpool. He's only 21 so a bit of a coup for this club. His ratings are 13-15's so hopefully will be useful. He cant play as a wing forward but I am training him to play there.

Yes, my formation is the same as that screen shot except I dropped the wing backs to a flat 4. Think it will be a lot safer with lesser ability players

yeah, as you can see in my screenshot, i conceded 2 goals lol, fullbacks would be safer than wingbacks

Srna was always pretty easy to get. All you have to do is pay the money they ask for.

real madrid bought him from shakhtar. they barely used him and after a season they put him on the loan list. so i paid real madrid €300k for the loan fee and paid 50% of srna's salary (€1.9m/year). good deal if you ask me

i tried to sign srna permanently after the loan because his contract was ending with real madrid, but srna wasn't interested in my club. he went to lyon instead on a free transfer

i didn't use srna as much as one would think. i only used srna in big games (mainly CL), and used crescenzi/nego as my first choice RB's so i could give them some experience. srna is probably 2x better than crescenzi/nego but like i said, i wanted to give the youngers more experience so they would grow faster. i only played srna when its vs milan, inter, napoli, bayern, barca, udinese away, juve away, etc.... all the other games i usually use crescenzi/nego

perhaps this was why srna wasn't interested in signing lol

off topic but i just played 3 rds of PES in champions league mode. i took out terry/ivanovic/badstuber/alaba/etc from the lineups

played chelsea vs bayern, won 1-0
played bayern vs chelsea, got red carded, lost 0-1
re-played bayern vs chelsea, drew 1-1 after 120min, lost 8-7 on pens

does that mean chelsea will win today? lol

honestly i don't give a shit about either team lol. chelsea winning would be better for Serie A though. but it's only a couple of points so it's not like it matters enough to "sway" my support towards chelsea

with 9 defensive minded players suspended/injured today i just want to see goals galore. 4-4 hopefully and PK's. like i said, i really don't care who wins lolol

Pizarro and Chivu announced their retirement after the match. and based on my contract negotiations with Totti, it seems like he's played his last game too =[

28mil, Probably could've got someone just as good for much less. I am a big fan of him and his potential in real life though and I don't need anything else so I'm happy with it.

I signed some Lazio scum :( With Bojan gone, Totti hurt a lot last season, and Nico Lopez pissing me off I needed one more striker. I brought in Federico Macheda, I'm going to have Totti tutor him to hopefully cleanse him of the evil within. Hopefully I can get some of the potential out of him that had people calling him the next C.Ronaldo.

I'll post my midfield later but it's stacked, I have more players than I know what to do with. Jonathan Dos Santos has been absolutely unbelievable, the most assists in Serie A and by far my best midfielder. I got him for like 600k the first year and now his value is over 10x that. I just picked up Verratti for a surprising 1.7m, I'm going to loan him out to a Serie A side for this season than sell Pjanic next summer.

Pjanic is better than Verratti in the game, though.
