    WOW.
You think these guys would know their subject matter because, last time I checked, they weren't volunteers.

Curious as to what these guys get paid as well.

Not fair. If we're bring Ray Hudson quotes into this thread then every thing else will get lost in the swarm of his quotes.

Thought about creating a new thread but I don't think there is any question about the errant call, assuming the call was truly offside.

Plus, I've been missing new additions to this thread. :)

    Here is the link.

What got me chuckling was the color commentator's observation: "I guess they are calling him for playing himself offside with the header".

    WTF?

Came in here to post the above link, which I just watched. Should have known I was already beaten to it. Would be absolutely laughable, if it wasn't so sad. Going to be hard to beat insofar as finding a single, stupider soundbyte in MLS this year.

Are they seriously wondering how Santos is hurt? Shame I can only rep you once for this one. Unbelievable. "good, strong win of the header. There's nothin' illegal about that."

"Just with the natural motion his elbow was up..." Wow - I have to stop typing the commentary, I can feel myself losing IQ points with each word simply by osmosis.

Same San Jose commentator pointed out before the game that San Jose has had two recent "overtime" winners. He meant stoppage time, but the mistake struck me as remarkably bad and American.

I watched the local DC replay last night--or at least parts of it. I can't recall the exact quotes, but the commentary around this incident was about it took "so long" to book the San Jose player and they really wondered why he suddenly decided to do so after the delay. Seemed to feel the referee was coaxed into the decision by the injury, even though they felt the yellow card was ultimately correct. At least the play-by-play guy suggested that the injury had something to do with it, though Harkes was totally bewildered.

the quakes commentators are absolutely awful. seems they'd be able to find someone who can speak in front of a camera who also knows their ass from a hole in the ground about soccer

This is an absolute gem from Revolution announcers from a 2010 game:

This is great. "He made solid contact with the ball first" + "very poor officiating" + the "Oh boy...OH boy..." = "absolute gem"

Not to mention the allusion that if you are 'playing well' you can't call fouls against that team. That makes loads of sense.

I like how he thinks the AR might've missed the ball going out of play...when he's right there, and that's his main job in that situation. I also like that it's not even close to being out yet people always put up their hands and they're always certain it was.
