Now as we all know, some people love rock music while others like country but I know that all of you like food so tell me : 1) Your favourite meal And 2)If you were to be executed the next day and you were on death row what would your last meal be..?? Mine would be- 1)Sweet and sour chicken with egg fried rice with prawn crackers. Desert would be apple pie and custard 2)Yorkshire puddings with beef, vegetables, gravy, roast potatoes with jam rollypolly for desert. What is yours?
1) A tin of tomato soup (must be Heinz) with half a loaf of Warburton's toastie. 2) Frankfurter, fries and coke from 'Megabite', my local take away. I'd insist that Minos, the Armenian owner of the place made it mind, as he does it better than the others. Proper classy.
That sounds good but I would substitute the Frankfurter for a nice big burger with plenty of cheese ie quarter pounder.
1) Steamed rice with channa masala, chicken tikka, some garlic naan, orange Fanta, and kulfi (ice cream) all made proper in Kolkata. 2) Medium-cooked large cheeseburger, batch of fries, and a 6 pack of Sam Adams Summer Ale.
1. An Italian sub from my favorite place back home. I probably only like it so much because I never have it anymore. 2. Anything cooked by my wife. If she pre-deceases me then it won't matter what I eat as my life will already be over.
I don't see how that would be possible, but if she did then I would take the appropriate steps. I assume that I could count on you to provide me an alibi.
If she were alive, then I'd go for fried eggs, queso frito with onions and tostones. If she were dead, then maybe a Whiz wit from Pat's King of Steaks.
I've not been. If you ever get down to Nevada Smith's to see a match then we can hit Luzzo's afterwards.
I've wanted to go to Nevada Smith's for match for nearly 5 years now, but I've only been to NYC 3 times in that period and always in August.
It's hard to say favorite meal. I suppose my favorite homemade meal would be grilled lamb chops, with asparagus and potatoes and mushrooms on the side. Plus a green salad, with with spinach, tomatos and corn, and a tomato-barley soup with giant croutons for starters. Good meal = big meal. From a restaurant, my favorite thing is seafood enchiladas from a place in Houston. Last meal would probably be raw oysters, seafood gumbo, and stuffed crabs served with iced tea, and peach cobbler over vanilla ice cream for dessert. I'd have to go back to my roots with my last meal.
I thought you were going to say that you're allergic to seafood so by doing this you'd deprive those bastards from killing you.
You need to come during the season. Just let me know and I'll meet you there. Depending on my wife's goodwill, I may go there for the derby.
No, but I suppose if I wanted to lose my will to live, I could always ask for Taco Bell or something.
I'm in - now that I have a job and a little f**k around money since I'm still living like a college student, I plan on getting up there during the season. There was an official club documentary in 2001 or 2002, I forget which, that had a good bit about the bar. The documentary showed a United Arsenal match at Smith's, then followed the owners of the bar back to Manchester for a game.
Not to sidetrack this too much, but the atmosphere is great. Rivalry matches are fun because there are usually plenty of opposing fans. As Jayro can attest, the first Milan match last season was fun. As far as I'm concerned, there's no bad time to come to NYC. You'll pay a lot for a hotel but everything else is reasonable.
It would be such a change - the bar I go to here in St. Louis styles itself as a footy bar. Their owner has some connection to United, I've never got it out of him but it has something to do with an old keeper back in the day. Anyways, they have lots of screen/space, but the place is only ever full for World Cup and maybe Copa/Gold Cup, i.e USMNT stuff. For United, it's usually me and this 25, 26 year old expat at all the games, with 2 or 3 randoms showing up for "big matches" like Chelsea/Arsenal/etc. That's it. Hell I don't even know his name, but we drink/talk etc, and he'll probably be there this Sunday. Oh well, sorry for off topic-ing. And Sapph - when you're a bit tipsy at 3:30 am and Taco Bell drive thru is the only thing within distance, it tastes like a 5 star meal. Though that could be said about any food in close proximity when one is drunk.
Gotta love Nevada's and their $5 pints, which in this city is dirt cheap. Not to mention the serve DUB Pies which after a few pints are like heaven.
I'm in, as long as some strange looking dude doesn't spend the whole match undressing me with his eyes.
