I left 5 voicemails with STHer department this week its option 1 when you dial My Rep (Joanna) resigned two weeks ago, no news of either a replacement or who is covering her workload
Agreed. If you can buy one before they're kick out by CSUDH security. *Be sure to have them add the jalapeƱos.
OP here. I actually bought one of the bacon-wrapped hot dogs after the Portland game. It was kinda pricey ($4), but it definitely seemed better than anything else at the HDC. But overall, I probably wouldn't get it again since it wasn't THAT good. I have to say that the kettle corn (get it every time) was really good and is probably gonna be the only thing I get from now on.
You can negotiate the price. They're not exactly licensed to sell or "permitted" to be there. They're there to make a dollar, which I appreciate. But you can easily buy 3 for $10. -- Especially if they're being chased by security and they're hasty. The danger is just making sure they cook them enough. When rushed, the'll cook them and sometimes they can be cold on the inside. Off topic, They should consider having the gourmet food trucks they bring out for special events at an actual game. *Though I'm guessing their concern is that it would absolutely decimate sales there. And if you can get in the stadium club and try the buffet - it's absolutely amazing. Best stadium food I've ever eaten.
Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead. But I was just wondering if there was anything you guys would recommend to buy at the HDC for a "cold" day like tonight. Here's the situation. I already got tix for my mom, dad, and sister to go to the game (lucky them), but now my mom is backing out 1. because she's not THAT interested in soccer (wish she woulda told me b4 i bought tix and 2. because she says it's gonna be too cold tonight. So I was thinking if I could help her with #2, then the Galaxy (with their stellar performance tonight and maybe some Beckham hair flips) would help solve #1. I think I've seen ppl get hot chocolate/coffee at the HDC. Anybody know where that's located? And I think she might enjoy a Cinnabon...so anybody know where that is? As you can tell, I don't really pay attention to the vendors at the HDC since I just get kettle corn every time. Also, any other suggestions (food that makes you feel all warm inside) would be great! Thanks!
That's why i put cold in parentheses. Might be windy? Idk. And it's not like we're from the east coast...I see you're in NJ. Cold for us (speaking for myself) is like warm for you haha.
Lived most of my life in So Cal - even when I lived in LA/SD 60 degrees was short sleeve weather. Forecast is 4 mph winds - a barely noticeable breeze. Tell your mom to get real - it's the playoffs! The adrenalin will keep you warm enough.
If there is one complaint about the HDC its the food n' beverage prices/selection/service. Food sucks. (Period) Levy restaurants who runs HDC concessions are a corporate shitbag that hires unhireable concession help, a food manufacturer that must also sell their product to prisons, and the prices are about 50% too high because they feel that a Galaxy crowd is the same economically as a Dodgers or Lakers crowd, even though you spent much less for your tickets. Beverage selection is weak at best. big cup of Bud light $11.00 Big cup of Corona $13.00. Holy shit. that's 400% markup. the 24oz of Budlight costs $2.99 in a liquor store. the 24oz Bottle of Corona can be purchased for the same $2.99. Then you have mixed drinks made with bottom shelf liquor from anywhere from $7.00-$14.00. That's a total 300 to 600 percent markup. Service. is totally decent to poor depending on how many people are at the game. over 20k it's the worst service ever, the employees are completely stressed and taxed and you're lucky just to get your shit. under 15k. you get your food fast, your beer fast. and you can be in out of line in less than 5 to 7 minutes. over 20k 15-30 minutes. Your best bet... hot dog vendors after the game outstide in the parking lot. wish they were there before the game though.
The hot drinks (chocolate/coffee) are sold by Cinnabon. I think there are only two Cinnabon kiosks inside the HDC.
Thanks. I ended finding a map of the concession stand at the HDC. Apparently there's a Starbucks at The Kick Coffee Stand. Is that still there? I have never seen it before...
If you get in line for a hot chocolate before the match, you might actually get one before halftime. Those lines move slower than anything. You'd think they were growing the coffee beans they serve before your cup.
I got Pollo Campero when I went to the Real Madrid game. I didn't get the fried chicken because it was so overpriced. I got the the chicken strips instead. I've been trying to look for a Pollo Campero. I hope their regular price is half of the price at HDC.
It was cold at the game, with a wind chill. For older folks, bring a cushion for the chair, a blanket and a scarf. In section 109, there was a guy with a huge backpack-style container of hot cocoa on his back, and he had a can of whipped cream. Sales were brisk. Do they still have a Coffee Bean/Tea Leaf on the west side of the stadium? (Opposite side of the grassy berm?) No matter what, the prices are crazy high, and MLS gets their cut. Best to get a non-metal thermos and bring your own, IMHO. No lines that way. Back in the good ol' days in the Rose Bowl, we would sneak in a bottle of liquor to mix in with the hot cocoa. Of course, that was pre-2001 when you could walk in with most everything you wanted.... and I did.
Oh how I lament the taco truck at the Rose Bowl (can't recall the name). Great taste and reasonable price for stadium food.
I'd like to see Food Trucks allowed at the HDC. Grill'em all,Lime Truck etc. Even if they park inside the fence.
If King Taco were allowed back into HDC, that would give me one more GREAT reason to attend live soccer. It also makes me long for $5 parking and a $5 beer. Topper
Speaking of expensive alcohol prices.... How hard is it to sneak a flask into the HDC? Do they pat you down when you enter?
Wear a big belt buckle, and you can blame the metal detection on the buckle. But if you want to pass thru with no hassle whatsoever, just use a plastic flask. Here is my favorite thing I have brought through the gate: I found it at Cost Plus World Market. Just add water, Patron, shake the damn thing up, toss it in the freezer, take it out before you leave for the game, and walk right past security with a strange smile on your face, and OH-lay, you're golden! If you see some dumbass in section 109 tipping a frozen margarita bag, and screaming his head off, that's me.
