Some month soon I saw that all season ticket holders can get a free flag from the FO. Now I don't know how big the flag is. But, I had an idea that would look good. I think it may be hard for each supporter to construct their own flagpole for the flag, although I know some could. But, maybe the supporters could front some money and the Crew could add some cheap poles to some of these. It may be worth it to get that overall atmosphere going to add them on to all of these free flags for season ticket holders. But, at least in the section for the walkout. If this isn't feasible because of the economy or because it would be really expensive then maybe the supporters can try to do it themselves. The material I'm thinking of would cost 80 cents for two flag poles. Which means like 40 cents a person. It just gets tricky adhering the two. If you watched the Champions League today from Chelsea: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7K5qSCJz8DA"]YouTube - BLUE IS THE COLOR CHELSEA IS OUR NAME[/ame] I'm not a big fan of Chelsea's atmosphere. But, how sweet would that look in the section or throughout the stadium on the walkout. And, it's the easiest way to get everyone involved. And, I think being a part of that would attract regular fans to keep coming. Just my two cents, may be totally impossible since Chelsea is pretty rich. Just can't really say any other MLS team has done something like that. And, it's totally reuseable because they are going to season ticket holders.
I was thinking the same thing. It would be sweet to have the whole Nordecke, and possibly stadium, doing this by seasons end.
We should ban people coming into the Nordecke unless they have some sort of banner, flag or Wookie/Werewolf face mask.
This doesn't relate directly to the idea that has already been proposed, but I think that it fits reasonably well.... I think that we should promote the making of individual flags that follow a general format to hang around our section. I'm thinking specifically of how England fans use St. George's Cross. [ame="http://www.flickr.com/photos/incandopolis/57160092/"]England Fans on Flickr - Photo Sharing![/ame] Instead, imagine if all around CCS or on the road in Toronto, Chicago, or DC that we had a bunch of flags of St. David (basically a black/yellow St. George's Cross) with our own personal messages on them, whether it be our own names or cities/suburbs that we're from. I believe that it could look pretty cool, especially if we have at least 10-20 people to make them initially and then the trend catches on.
I have 10-15 pvc pipes left over from the US/Mexico game that I will donate to the cause. At that game we found out that it works best to drill holes in the pvc pipe and secure the zip-tie through the drilled holes so the flags don't slip down the poles. Let me know if you want/need these.
Exactly. That's what I mean. It's perfect. Like Thoma said, everyone buy a pvc pipe. It cost 80 dang cents people. And, some zip ties. Put your flag on the pole and wave away. Almost everyone who has a season ticket in the Nordecke should do this. Cheapest damn display ever and would look cool. We don't get them til' June. But, we'll try to do it for a late June or July game. I have a bunch of pvc pipes as well.

Just a 4 ft by 3 or what ever, some bigger stuff two. simple black or gold, checkered, team logo on some. everybody waves them around quickly during certain chants or after we score. and when the team takes the field. but suggestions on this site, rarely ever happen. sorry my rant and i have no reason to talk, but watching other supporters doing awersome things just angers me when we have the numbers and passion
Screw off. We have banners made, people spend their own money and make some pretty cool displays. Not every game does it happen because it costs money and takes up a lot of time. And on your flag idea, we bough 100 checkered flags last year, paid for out of our own pockets, and displayed them at the away game against Chicago (2nd trip) and then again we distributed them out to people for home games for almost nothing in return. We do have the numbers and certain people are passionate enough, but not in excess by any means.
We plan on doing some big stuff for the rival games, and starting with the LA game. Chivas and RSL aren't much to talk about, and the TFC game others did a pretty big banner and re displayed some other cool banners we did for last years tFC game
Exactly I'm not criticizing people who organize displays, I'm saying there has to be more effort from the general nordeckians to bring those flags back, to make them themselves. And I'm not talking about banners and expensive displays. Just cheap flags, and they could just bring them regularly.
Sorry to be harsh so quickly, but there is a lot of time and effort put into doing this sort of stuff and when people make blanket statements about us being uneventful and lame I don't take it lightly. I gave some flags to some guys to bring in to the tailgate and KMMC should have some, I'll have some more at Rubys, they aren't in the best condition but it will be something. Something like this from last year can be done, but it still costs money (upwards of $300+)
Come again? Let's see this guy put his money where his mouth is. If he isn't so artistically inclined, i'm sure someone a bit more so would accept donations of supplies.
people could/should also make them themselves too. 50 cents or a dollar for skinny PVC, and a simple gold or black flag. it would save people like you alot of money.
I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who drinks and cheers under the banners of the very fandom we provide, then questions the manner in which we provide it! I'd rather you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a checkbook and chip in. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you're entitled to!
I dont think he was calling them unique I just think he was stating the fact that he wishes more of nordecke (and the rest of ccs) would participate in organized chants/tifo ect.... I would be more than willing to help, hell Ill drive up just to help and day I can, my problem is I have not the slightest bit of imagination to come up with the things on my own.
Send me your e-mail and contact number if you wish. I'll contact you with info on what were doing and when were doing it, as it comes up.
I've toyed around with the idea with simply buying the fabric for simple black and yellow flags. However I get stuck on the flag pole thing. Do I go wooden or the more reliable pvc? And that's when it could get costly. However if I were to buy a 5 ft tall pvc pipe, I'd cut it in half which would make it good and numerous enough for small but still visible flags. On my lil PERSONAL SACRIFICING-OF-THE-FAMILY budget, it's possible. But honestly, going wholesale is the way to go. I'm glad that other creative minds are actaully stepping up efforts to bring up the Nordecke's game with supporter culture.
i still dont know if you understood, i was saying that people could make them themself and bring them to games. No major money from anybody's pocket, nothing to organize, just people could do their part when coming to games individually.
so i think I'm going to make a flag but am creatively retarded. Whats the easiest way to make one? I'd prefer a checkered black/yellow one...Where can I get something like that at?
If your looking to do a checkered flag, I'd suggest just buying one. Its difficult to paint that kinda thing (in my experiences). Also, the more you paint the more frigid the material becomes making it less likely to move like a flag. Heres one website I found real quick, for 8 bux your getting 1 2x3ft flag, (If your going that route let me know, we have left over 3x5ft flags we made, already attached to 5ft pvc poles from last year for $5) OR You could always go the route of sewing black squares onto a solid yellow piece to make the checkered look... but thats beyond me so I can't really point you in that direction.
I'll take one of the flags off your hands so I don't have to make my own. I'm picking a couple tickets up from you on saturday...anyway I could get the flag then?
