FK Željezničar is a football club from Bosnia and Herzegovina, playing in the capital, Sarajevo.

The initial acronym stands for Fudbalski sportski klub (meaning "Football Club"), and the name Željezničar means "railway worker", given because it was established by a group of railway workers.

Željezničar, alias 'Željo', is historically one of the most prominent and successful football teams in Bosnia and Herzegovina. During the time of the former Yugoslavia, FK Željezničar was a member of the Yugoslav First League.

Today, Željezničar is one of the most famous members of the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Its success includes winning one Championship in former Yugoslavia and four titles in Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The biggest European result was UEFA Cup semi-final in 1984-1985 season.

I just can't believe Zeljo lost their season opener against Siroki Brijeg, 2-1. Although it's not a bad loss, considering Siroki were in EL.

I see good things in the future for Zeljeznicar.

Terrible goals that we conceded, not sure how we managed to lose.

That Maccabi Tel-Aviv thrashing is making me feel bad, no way we deserved to lose that 8-0 on aggregate. Only 3 goals that they scored were unstoppable, the rest were our own mistakes.

I wouldn't take this loss (to Siroki) to bad. They are one of the top 5/6 teams in the Premijer Liga.

Haha Siroki always escape by the skin of their teeth somehow, hate them so much.

Anyway, it was an away match, we'll be fine.

Our talented young winger Edin Visca is on the verge of joining Istanbul BB, where our starting goalkeeper Kenan Hasagic plays. Details about the deal will be revealed later on. Good luck to Visca in Turkey, hope he continues his development there.

I'm very disappointed in the move but we have plenty of players at the position. Zeljeznicar probably decided to sell him while the iron was hot, and the maximum value they could get for him.

Turkish teams tend to overpay for our players as it is.

I said in the last page that financial details about this transfer will be revealed shortly after the move is completed. I will post them up here when it is done and shown.

We got 400,000 euros for Visca's transfer. Not bad, really.

We've got over 2 million I think over the last two years for CL, EL, Kup and league successes, as well as the transfers of Bekric, Sehic, and Visca combined and the 5% from Dzeko's move to City. Awesome being a Zeljeznicar fan. :)

    ---

Excellent result. Had me worried when it was still 0:0 at 30 minutse haha.

If he doesn't find a club in the next two weeks, I can definetly see him joining. Imagine this -

    -----Svraka--Savic
    Beslija - Zeba - Smajic
    -------Muslimovic

    :p

What luck. How many times are you going to see a Travnik player pull a shot off like that? 1 out of 100000000000000 maybe.

Terrible start for us so far. Our defense hasn't looked itself since the demolition by Maccabi, theres definitely some mental carryover. Osim needs to set the priorities straight and get them back into a winning mentality.

Luckily nobody has 9 points and Sarajevo lost. A win is a must next week.

Actually, a win is a must on Tuesday, whoever we play.

I don't get why we're conceding so many amateur goals. Bogicevic and Nyema have been solid and Kvesic is looking good. Markovic is a disaster though.
