Borac (Serbian Cyrillic: Бopaц) is a sports society with several teams, from the city of Banja Luka, Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Borac means "Fighter" and the clubs supporters are called Lešinari/Лешинари which means Vultures. The club is the champion of Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina for 2010/2011 season. The football club Borac was founded on July 4, 1926. Originally it was named Radnički sportski klub Borac, meaning Workers' Sports Club Borac. It was founded by a group of football aficionados including Veselin Masleša, Rudolf "Rudi" Hiter, Savo Novaković, Mustafa Softić, Nikola Kuković and others. The club's first success in this early period came in 1928 when it won a tournament played in Sarajevo. Borac was renamed Fudbalski klub Borac (Football Club Borac, FK Borac) in 1945. It played two years in the Yugoslav Third League before it advanced to the Second League in 1953. It gained promotion to Yugoslav First League for the 1961/62 season, but promptly dropped back down at the end of it. The club would wait almost a decade for a return to top flight – 1970/71 was the season, and the stay in top league was longer this time around – four consecutive seasons. The 1974/75 season was spent in Second League where the club achieved quick promotion and thus ensured the beginning of a new 5-year First League period that lasted until 1980. The following nine seasons were spent in Second League, before a final top league stint between 1989 and 1992. Borac's best placement in the First League was 1990/91 when it finished fourth. FK Borac was the runner-up in the 1975 Yugoslav Cup, and won it in 1988 as the only Second League club to ever achieve this. The club also won the Mitropa Cup (Central European Cup) in 1992. It played a total of eight games in UEFA competitions. Seven Borac players participated in the Yugoslav national football team and its stadium, the City Stadium of Banja Luka (capacity: 7,238), hosted five international matches. Borac Banja Luka in recent times had great success by winning three First League of the Republika Srpska titles, first one in 2000/2001, the second in 2005/2006 and the third in 2007/08. FK Borac Banja Luka is one of the oldest football clubs from former Yugoslavia. Borac supporters group "Лешинари"/"Lešinari" are formed in 1987.They have been involved in a number of fights with rival supporters such as FK Sarajevo, NK Čelik, Zrinjski and Željezničar.
I believe they are in third or fourth, at the moment. Not a bad place. Although, after returning this year as reigning champions, I am sure they would have liked to be placed in the top two, at this late stage of the BIHPL. Nonetheless, a pretty good club by BPL standards and terrible fans, honestly. If they do qualify for Europe, we better hope they don't draw an Israeli side and get squashed like they did last time. Anyways, their five next match-ups are as follow: @Zrinjski... vs. Olimpic... @ Zeljeznicar... vs. Zvijezda... vs. Celik. So obviously, Borac has a very tough schedule which eventually lightens up as the season goes along. So their next two to three matches are going to be key on where they finish. Hope they can give the other top contenders a fight (like they have been doing almost all season, in my honest opinion).
Sucks that we have such shitty fans and club culture these days. This club used to stand for something.
Međutim, u Bosni i Hercegovini to nije slučaj. Postoje entitetski zakoni, a u Federaciji Bosne i Hercegovine i kantonalni. ------------------------------------------------ the team really deserves this. a 100,000 euro fine and 6 home matches not allowed to be played in borac. lol good actions from our fa
Wonder how badly this could affect Borac's chances of playing in Europe next season. Olimpic and Zrinjski right on their tails and they can't play any home games with their support right behind them, meaning they won't really 'feel' like home games.
^ that's true, it'll be a big factor in wether Borac is gonna play in Europe, the fans didn't didn't really help their team in that choice (hitting the ref).
Does UEFA even allow teams to play in play-offs without a real home in a UEFA competition? Or do they just play in a nuetral stadium? Very weird situation Borac has here.
Zrinjski defeated Borac Banja Luka this last Wednesday. The score of the match was 1-0. This hurt Borac's placement in the standings. Sarajevo moved ahead to third place while Borac moved down to fourth. Still, good enough to play in Europe. They just can't drop too many points the rest of the way, and they should be fine. And their next match (against Olimpic) is very important. A loss for Borac Banja Luka would result in another slide in the standings (down to fifth - which means they lose their current EL spot). They also play the top team of the BIHPL, Zeljeznicar, after that. if they can do decent in these next two matches and come away with some kind of result, they shouldn't have to worry to much about losing that top four spot.
Looking forward to the Borac-Olimpic game. Quietly optimistic that Olimpic could get all three points here. They managed to keep a cleansheet in front of thousands of screaming Manijaks, they could do the same in an empty stadium in Banja Luka as well as score a couple of goals. They won in Banja Luka 2-0 a couple of seasons ago, wouldn't rule out them repeating the trick.
During the 22. Kolo, Borac Banja Luka had a 1-0 victory over another EL competitor, Olimpic. If anything, this match gave all other teams in the 2-4 spots a better chance of keeping their respective spots by keeping Olimpic down in its place. After this victory, Borac will head to Sarajevo to play the greatest team in the Bosnian Premijer Liga, FK Zeljeznicar. A big, big match here. I am not sure Borac Banja Luka will be able to vercome Zeljo and defeat them, but they'll definitely make a battle out of it. I think we see a score like in the Kup's semfinals firs leg between these two, 2-0 for Zeljeznicar.
Good result for Borac again, they don't seem to suffer much despite playing behind closed doors. If they keep up their solid home form and get a couple of wins on the road, they'll lock down a place in next season's Europa League.
Borac Banja Luka took another blow to Zeljeznicar with a 1-0 loss to the smurfs today. They currently would be in place to play in Europe, but just barely at fourth place. Their next match is home against Zvijezda. The three points shouldn't be too much to ask, except the only problem is that Borac haven't been that good in terms of recent form. They lost two of their last three matches. Zvijezda have had the same record in their last three matches, as well. I might go with the prediction of a draw in this match.
Terrible loss for Borac (versus Zvijezda), 1:2 in their opponents favor. This completely pulls them out of the race for second, I guess. And now, they will need to fight for every point before they secure a spot in EL qualifying. Next up for them is home against Celik. Borac fans better hope they don't drop points again against another mid-table team...
A nice win for the home side, Borac Banja Luka, 2:0 against Celik. There's a five point difference between Borac and Sarajevo, meaning if they gain that ground, Borac would have the third spot in the BiHPL. If I was Borac, I'd focus on keeping the fourth spot rather than jumping onto third. Zrinjski is only three points behind them, so they must get every point against easy teams, like next week, away to Sloboda Tuzla. Any little slip-up could cost them Europe and waste a whole season's work of doing so, due to one tiny slip-up.
Borac losing that grip on fourth place is unlikely. Olimpic keep screwing up and Zrinjski have to play away to Sarajevo this weekend. It's unlikely so I think we'll be watching Borac represent BiH this summer again.
Borac in Europa League Qualifying First Leg: Borac 2-2 Celik Niksic Despite playing at home, Borac Banja Luka could not pull out a victor against their Montenegrin opponents. Almost 1,000 people showed up to watch a sub-par performance from Borac in a game that showed just how tough that Celik Niksic could actually be. The first goalscorer of the game was Bojic, who put up Celik Niksic 1-0 in the 37' from the spot. After that, the Borac Banja Luka equalizer came two minutes later from Stakic, who scored a beautiful goal. Shortly after that, Borac scored again in the 42' to take the lead 2-1. Things were looking good for Borac, and then the tying goal came from Agovic in the 82'. This goal that Borac conceded would prove to be very, very costly in the second leg.... Second Leg: Celik Niksic 1-1 Borac Borac Banja Luka came into the game knowing they faced a difficult situation. In order to advance to the second round f the Europa League qualifying, they needed to win, or draw 3-3 or higher. 0-0/1-1 would knock them out, because they would have conceded more away goals. The match started off quietly, and there would be no goals in the first half (although Celik had a great chance in the 15' from Adrovic ; nothing came of it), although the Celik Niksic supporters were still chanting and having a good time. They knew this result would keep their team into the next round. Then came the second half. The Bosnian club would be playing with 10 men due to Zivkovic's red card. Borac then let up the first goal of the game, this time coming from Ivanovic, just three minutes after the red card. The Montenegrin club was in great position, all they needed to do was not let Borac score two goals. Milic then gave Borac a chance in 66', but it the result stood like that by the end of the game. Aggregate: Celik Niksic 3(a)-3 Borac Banja Luka

Yeah the tie was over and there was no way back for Borac after drawing at home in the first leg. Must have been mission impossible to win away to an amateur team. lol where do these coaches come from? They're decades behind the coaches you see in Croatia, Serbia, and Slovenia in terms of modern day football knowledge and tactics.
Very true, had they kept it at 2-1 and the defense had kept their composure and held out for eight more minutes, we would not be talking about a Borac elimination right now....
Just AWFUL. So I hear Borac are interested in bringing back Jagodic back as their coach now that they sacked Bozicic which shows how incompetent they are to even get a coach and then just sack him after two games. I hope Vlado rejects them and focuses on the U-21 team, build a base there for the future.
Boris Raspudic has chosen to come back to his club, Borac Banja Luka. The defensive midfielder/defender has returned with a two-year contract (his old contract ended this summer, and he has resigned). He does have 30 years of age, so he can continue feeding the new youngsters of the club some good knowledge, tips, etc.
------------------------------------------------------------- Rudar's best player and one of the best strikers in the BiHPL turned down a move to Borac.
I am assuming he just doesn't want to play for a Bosnian-Serb club, but that would be ironic considering Rudar is in Republika Srpska, as well.
I don't think that's it. Borac has had a problem lately with fulfilling wage promises. Besides Mirza like every other player in the league is keen on moving out to Czech Republic, Poland, Belgium, etc where salaries are much better.
