Surprised for Morales. He lost his spot at Hertha towards the end of the year.

    Nothing else is really shocking.

He understands if he accepts this call up he's tied to the US. It seems like he's still holding out for a Germany call up.

If it was Germany calling him up, I'm sure he wouldn't need a break.

Thats why I said it can't be good. He's a good player, and from what it looks like, his heart doesn't fully lie with us.

    I'd say Donovan is 100%

    Shea is 95%

Outside of that, it really could be anyone.

Players like Wondolowski and Pontius have made a solid case for themselves recently, but they haven't been apart of the US team before so it's hard to say with any certainty who might make it.

Ives reports that Onyewu and Altidore need a break but will rejoin the team in a week.
Goodson, Parkhurst, Gomez are still playing.
Joe Corona and Terrence Boyd have tweeted they are coming in later.
    That is 23 of the 29 . .

I'm bummed Damarcus Beasley wasn't called up. I think he's still one of our best wingers. Also interesting to note that Brek Shea wasn't called up - I'm not sure he'll be in the second bunch either. But I don't think Shea deserves the call-up anyway.

Donovan also wasn't called up. We won't know about Shea or the MLS players until the final list comes out.

    Morales?

I haven't been watching any Mexican soccer. How have Castillo, Morales, and Torres been doing? No love for Beasley over these guys?

The Chandler thing is a BIG loss. I don't think he'll be with us ever again.

    Otherwise a pretty straightforward roster.

    Morales plays in Germany.

Castillo supposedly has played very well for Tijuana. Torres, some fans seem not so impressed with.

I guess Femexfut doesn't think much of Joe Corona. And it's hard to imagine he's one of our best considering his experience level. But apparently he is. "“All the players coming now for this very special four-week period represent our core,” said Klinsmann. “It’s a clear signal to other players that right now it’s down to business. We’re playing World Cup qualifiers. It’s not about experimenting or seeing different players, it’s about who we think are the best"

Mexico have plenty of creative attacking midfielders. Doesn't matter, he's a good player for us.

I know that. "Morales" was a general question...followed by the Mexican question. Sorry for the confusion.

Two conversations going on in different threads, but my opinion is he did not play well for Hertha where nobody played well at all.

It's his decision and even if this were true it's one we have to respect. He may not get that chance and he knows he'll have a few more opportunities with the US team. He's one to watch with injuries anyway.

Corona interests me because I think he has the ability to be a late game impact player. He is pretty quick and had a decent touch. I think he is the guy you throw on at the 75 min mark and just let him run at defenders.

Interesting to see if Corona makes the final 23. I could see JK calling in young guys like Corona, Boyd and Morales but not including them in the 23.

On the exclusion of Timmy Chandler from the roster:
“I have had long conversations with Timmy about where he is in his professional career and his commitment to playing international football. He has expressed his appreciation for all the opportunities we have given him, but he also feels at this point he needs to take a break. It’s disappointing not having him as a part of the team at this important juncture of building our team, but ultimately a player must decide what is best for him. The door is certainly not closed on Timmy, but in the moment we move on without him.”
