Piotr Nowak was an MLS Cup-winning head coach and US-Olympic Team Coach and US National Team Assistant Coach and MLS legend and the biggest available name in US soccer coaching at the time, prior to being hired by Philadelphia, not a second-year Houston assistant coach.

Nowak was hired to run the damn team in Philadelphia, not just coach. We were not making such an offer to John Spencer.

As for CDLC, most of us actually liked the appointment of CDLC at the time. It just did not work out. PLUS, Hauptmann did make a move during the season, which generally would have cost him a lot more, since he most likely would have to pay the rest of CDLC's contract (at least for that year).

Of course, we went a different route and handed the reins to Klopas, but, again, many of us thought that was a good move at the time (and may still have been a good move in hindsight).

We understand your hatred of all things Andy Hauptmann, but that does not mean you have make crap up.

Not that it will happen since Puppo is loaned out, does that mean we could sign TWO DP's before the window closes. I would be happy as shit if we signed ONE before the window closes.

    A bit of reality:
    1. Chris Rolfe, Chris Armas, Frank Klopas, Mike Jeffries, Mike Matkovich, Diego Gutierrez, Ivan Guerrero (but he did not last)
    2. True (and that f'n sucks), but it may not have been a money thing.
    3. EVERY team brings in players, some work out others don't. I will agree that our track record is getting worse.
    4. Has there been even ONE credible source for any DP who has rejected the Fire due to the salary being too low? Other than Internet/BS chatter, has there been any news reports to substantiate this?
    5. The attendance has been steady for our entire history. The highest average was 17,887 in 1998. 2008 was 17,034. 2000 and 2006 were our two lowest average attendances (outside of the Naperville time). Our attendance has been between 14,000-17,000 every year.
    6. Agreed.
    7. Totally agree. If he hired non-soccer people who were particularly good business people, that would be one thing. It appears that he hired neither soccer people nor business people.

Mind you, I agree with your overall assessment and the last line.

Let me ask you......Are you happy with the way the team is right now? If so great keep plunking down your money I guess someone has to pay the electrical bill for the stadium and drink the stale beer.

LOL you cant admit that your wrong can you? Does it eat you alive that your probably actually realizing now that some of us older cats are right about this organization and where its heading...

    heres another clue...

    http://www.nypost.com/p/blogs/soccerblog/source_red_bulls_make_top_offer_UNvz5Al4TbRuDghwfNosjJ

So Red Bulls Have Henry Marquez and have just signed Tim Cahill and also made and offer for KAKA... Are you kidding me dude... and were getting Sherill Macdonald...

I know you can see the difference... your just being a petulant child who knows they are wrong but are gong to pout anyway

There is a difference between that and offering your head coach an assistant coaches salary.. And BTW the way the only reason Frank Klopas is coach is because Andy did not want to be paying two coaches for the year.. because he was still paying DLC a salary.. If that doesnt scream.. Im a cheap bastard I don't know what does.

It says he does not really care about the long term growth of the team right now.. he just doesnt want to spend more money than he has too... Who the ******** spends 35 million dollars and then nickles and dimes a 35 million dollar investment by not spending the right money on probably your most important hire for your organization.. Your head coach...

The guy doesn't know what hes doing and Im not making stuff up... up.

I dont hate Andy.. I just wish he would realize "hey I ********ed up.. this isnt for me" and sell the team to someone that does give a damm.. But I am not going to sit here and support him running the franchise into the ground...

I would be willing to bet the Chicago Fire Franchise will be the first team to sell for less than its last purchase price... We have fallen back on all metrics since our last sale..

"“(Red Bull) has made an offer, but the Brazilian wants to play in Europe. If Kaka signs with (Red Bull), he would earn much less money,’’ a source said of Kaka, who is signed for a further three years at €10 million net a year."
My guess is that puts Kaka just outside Keane money. Obviously he'd have to take a pay cut, but i'd wager there are few teams in MLS that are willing to pay even half that for a player.

Again, I am not disagreeing with you. Although I don't know for sure that the "only reason" Frank Klopas is coach is due to the whole CDLC fiasco, it is certainly a reasonable presumption.

the way i understand it is they made a bid for Kaka and they took too long to come up with an answer and they went for Cahill and got him. Because NY simply couldnt house 4 DP's. They'd have to drop one if they picked up Kaka as well, so i'd state that the chain of events is Cahill was their fall back. Not arguing against MacDonald, I'll let him prove himself, but i was truly hoping the Fire would have taken advantage of this window

That would mean Transfer fee, a high one I bet, Kaka is not an Old player, I am pretty sure he is under 28.

Crazy how people throw names like that and then get upset at the FO when they end up somewhere else.

I mean come on guys keep the expectation a little realistic please.

from what others have posted RM is looking to off load Kaka, but i wager there will still be a hefty fee. Not to mention will Kaka be ok with coming to MLS and getting paid half (at best) of what he's making in his current contract?

ok then... Lets at least try to keep up with the rest of the league in quality signing's shall we

Sounders actually sign a guy who was the leading assist leader in the Bundesliga a couple of years back and were signing obscure talent from a second tier league with credulous scoring stats and hes suppose to be a striker.. LOL....NO worries though Anothermoronmurdered will try to pin it off as irrelevant to the situation and focus on something truly integral to the situation like whos on the staff on the fire from the older teams.. yeah.. right...

In a potition that after we were weak at? (Still kind of are with out Gibbs).

And a former Mexican National team player that won the Bundesliga Championship a few years ago?
