I don't count Edu as a DM, regardless of what position he's listed as in the most recent iteration of the FIFA franchise. He's a box to box guy who's dangerous going forward as well as solid defensively. Carroll was having a solid game, so the key wasn't to move one to the bench, just to tell Edu to move up and Carroll sit back.
I have no complaints about tonight's game....we had our chances and couldn't bury them... Although, Casey is looking quite lethargic out there and a step behind...I don't think he is going factor much for us this season!
The Union sit outside of the playoffs at the quarter pole, and all of MLS has game(s) in hand. When you look at the schedule through end of May, this team could be buried. Hack will need to alter his thinking and push the players to be creative. This "don't make a mistake" brand of soccer isn't working, and you have to wonder what it's done to Berry's confidence. Though making mistakes haven't cost Wheeler playing time. Can Hack adjust his thinking? If he doesn't, we could get our doors blown off in MTL and SEA.
Back in June 2013 I thought you may have been jumping the gun a bit. But even in my patience with Hack, I now find very little in the OP I disagree with. He's been given a chance to finally clear out salary to bring in higher quality and, as much as things have changed, things haven't changed.
It's telling to compare Hackworth's coaching record on the day the thread was created with his record today: June 2, 2013: 13 wins, 16 losses, 8 draws (1.27 PPG) - 48GF/55GA April 21, 2014: 21 wins, 25 losses, 19 draws (1.26 PPG) - 80GF/85GA In between: 8 wins, 9 losses, 11 draws (1.25 PPG) - 32GF/30GA At least he's consistent in his mediocrity. We even have a post complaining about the Union's failure to win after an opposition red card on page 1.
I think its time to make a change, for certain, now. There's just too much evidence that he's taken the team as far as it can go. At this point, I'd be happy with Sorber taking the reigns.
John Hackworth - “It’s still early in the year,” the Union manager said. “Would we like to have more points? No question. But in almost every game, we’ve been able to play some good soccer. And we just need to put that together over a 90-minute stretch and finish in front of goal obviously and do what we did [Saturday] by keeping a shutout.” Its OK guys....Hack says so!
