SerieA will lose approximately 5000 points after this season. No Bundesliga follower believes in the possibility to overtake SerieA in this season. So, SerieA has at least one more season to counter Bundesliga before losing the 4th CL spot.

They should drop the co-efficiant bs all together and only allow 3 teams per country to enter the CL. That would trim the fat a little, and make the europa league slightly more interesting

We are 1.441 points ahead of the Germans, it will be very easy for them to pickup that points and surpass us with 4 teams (Stuttgart will be out) still in to our 1 or 2 still in...

Roma had a great chance to win the Europa but 5 minutes of hell sealed that actually 10 minutes if you include the end of the 1st leg, 5 goals allowed in 10 minutes, ouch. Then you have Standard Liege who sit 7th in Belgium, go to Athens and score a 3-1 win.

Juve have a good chance to win the Europa, L'pool are struggling, Valencia are struggling, and good teams will knock each other out in Benfica/Marseille, Wolfsburg/Rubin. Juve are the favorites to win it.

If we overtake you this season we will be represented with 4 teams in the CL from 11/12 onwards.
Also if you look at the points you will lose the next years compared to us, it´s not unrealistic that the 4th spot will be out of reach for Italy for a while.

I'll never understand why teams treat the UEFA Cup (or whatever you want to call it) like trash. During the year, that's all they talk about, is a European spot (and of course the CL is the optimal target, but these are for the midtable clubs who should be more realistic), and then once it comes...I still can't believe Samp (I think last year) not even trying and getting eliminated by some Ukraine team who hadn't played in months and was in its offseason

I dont understand it either. To some teams, like Milan or whatever, winning the Europa League is no big deal because such prestigious clubs are judged by their number of CL trophies. So, I guess it is more forgiving if they don't go all out for this tournament as they would rather expend their efforts in ensuring a top 4 finish in the Serie A table. For some other teams, like Samp, for instance, treating the Europa League like a joke is inexcusable. These teams often fight out the likes of Roma, Fiorentina, Palermo, Napoli, Genoa, Udinese, etc. for one of these spots, When they make it to such a position, they should go all out. If not, what's the real point of vying for one of these spots? It should be more than the money...

I've heard that Valencia-Werder was at least as rigged as Bayern-Fiorentina....based on the highlights, the penalty awarded to Bremen was complete bollocks, as was Banega's red card.

    We'll see what happens tonight.

    Anyway:

Ironically, it's probably their year...unless they meet Barca in the final

So what do we have here, a concerted effort to get BL teams ahead? Anyone have clips of that Werden/Valencia game to document the rigged calls?

Aren't you reaching a little bit? For one thing Milan won the 2006/07 Champions League, which was after the World Cup. Second Inter hasn't won anything yet and has 8 very difficult games in front of them just to get into the final. Still a very long road.
