Whew - Swansea gave us a run for the money...a trip down to Southampton is up next...they are coming off a 3-1 away loss to the Hammers - another tough game on the road... Who will BR pair at center back?...or...Will Luis find his scoring boots?
The title of this thread is funny because it is very possible that the spuds could catch arse and leave them in 5th... 6 points between them and l'arse to visit WHL. On a separate note, I hate watching games played there on TV. The camera has to sit almost atop the stadium so as not obstruct live views that it is moving around so much I almost get motion sickness.
One would think that with Arsenal's team that they would be right up there. They're running hot and cold like us. Well we run scalding and cool and they run hot an distinctly chilly... Fun thing when watching the Spuds play and hearing "Adebayor's" name. I can't get the vision or sound of Arsne Wenger's voice out of my mind the way he says it..
Starting on Sunday, the lads have 4 matches in a span of 2 weeks. This is the part of the schedule where a stumble can be especially costly. The matches are: ManU @OT Cardiff @ their bog Sunderland @ The Fortress Spurts @ The Fortress I see little worry regarding the middle two matches, which means that our boys must be especially bright and dominate play from the opening whistle. We will be stretched thin, unless LL and Sakho can come back and play in some of these contests. Physioroom lists the two of them as expected back in a week, which means, I guess, that they could sub against ManU. After 9 matches where they only lost one, Sunderland has fallen in two consecutive outings, against Hull City and Arsenal. Cardiff City has failed to score in 7 of their last 10, but they play much better at home than on the road. Spurs are the best away team in the BPL, earning nearly 2 points per match. However, they have lost their last two away games, against Chelsea and Norwich City in a lusterless match at Carrow Road. Even though Spurs had nearly 60% of the ball, Norwich had more shots, more corners and took the lead in the 47th minute through Robert Snodgrass' clever finish of a pass from Bradley Johnson. Spurs pressed for the equalizer but it never materialized. As far as the match against ManU is concerned, I think the key is to score early and then press. I don't trust winning a shoot out. I don't want the crowd in it. We know how devastating our counter-attack is, and if United needs to chase the game there will be chances. It could easily end 3-0, but I think we all will take any result that earns full points.
Spurs' record vs Top 4 sides: @ Arsenal L 1-0 vs Chelsea 1-1 @ Man City L 6-0 vs Liverpool L 5-0 vs Man City L 5-1 @ Chelsea L 4-0 Anyone seeing a trend here? Manure's record vs Top 4 sides: vs Chelsea 0-0 @ Liverpool L 1-0 @ Man City L 4-1 vs Arsenal W 1-0 @ Chelsea L 3-1 @ Arsenal 0-0 Not much better.
to me, recent form is more important than overall record. a team could be in 14th place and be on a 5 win run, with 3 wins on the road and two at home. that team is dangerous. i think that Liverpool can win all 4 of the next set of matches and if they do, it will cement a top 4 finish in my mind, and it will put Chelsea in a place where they cannot afford even one slip.
If we do make the top 4, then this could happen. Bring it on I say, http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...-if-they-pull-off-Premier-League-triumph.html
Current Standings: http://www.uefa.com/memberassociations/uefarankings/club/index.html This is why it is important to take Europa League campaigns seriously....
Reading the comments pages of most Liverpool match reports, it seems to be almost an established given that coming 7th the previous season and hence no European football will land you the league championship, eh?
Wow! - Everton lose to Crystal Palace and MCity draw with Sunderland...(barely - horrible mistake by keeper...)...we win out and City can't catch us... Huge fan of Sunderland for at least another week!
