Sun goes over horizon. Prediction: all plant and animal life will perish in cold, dark wasteland. Hours later, light comes up over horizon, all plant and animal life will perish in boiling hot temperatures. Not sure if your pessimism is a superstition or not, but it was a road draw. The apocalypse is not upon us.
Funny old season isn't it? In the past there used to be a media thing called the Top Four. These clubs would made up the 4 in just about every season just a change of order from time to time. Things have changed and how. Now it could be anyone of the top 7. Top teams need to max out points each week just to keep in that group. While the top 3 are set up there (Yet, not set in stone, yet!) the others are fighting for the 4th and play off spot. Todays hiccup was a bummer, not the end of the world but we really have to do better with these matches. The baggies were 4th (Now 5th) from bottom) yet we played so loose you would think it was a foregon conclusion. The amount of times we played it back to the keeper was asinine. I know it's part of a plan to draw them out but it took just one Awshit to lose 2 points and you could see that coming.
All of the teams challenging us for 4th have dropped points to the Baggies, either home or away. Our 4 against them matches the best they can do. Spurs v the ev next week, and the ev are at the plastics 2 weeks later. Spurs have a killer March. We have 7 points on Utd who go to Arsenal, Palace and west Brom, plus CL before we play them in early march. If they drop points in at least 2, if not all 3 of those games it wouldn't be a big shock. Bad way to drop points, but we are still pole position.
I guess another optimistic way of looking at things is that each of our last 4 fixtures have seen better results than we had in them last year. 12-13 @ Stoke = L vs Villa = L vs Everton = D @ West Brom = L 13-14 @ Stoke = W vs Villa = D vs Everton = W @ West Brom = D
5 Fixtures, we were knocked out against Oldham in the FA cup this stage last year. In comparison we have done brilliantly, it just shows how good Rodgers has made us that we are disappointed with this upswing.
This by Neil Atkinson is very good. http://www.theanfieldwrap.com/2014/02/the-turning-of-the-screw/?wt=3
And another good one from TAW which actually discusses the race for 4th, with numbers and everything http://www.theanfieldwrap.com/2014/02/go-fourth-and-multiply-liverpool/ Conclusion
Saw an interesting post on Reddit. We're on 53 points after 26 games. The 08-09 team was on 55 after 26. Nothing's impossible...
I know it's just a title. but I thought I'd post a photo of Arsenal's and Arsne's International Trophy cabinet again. Complete with all they have won over the years. Just to remind people who we're playing in the FA Cup this Sunday.
OK - FA Cup is behind us. Stand up. Shake it off. Refocus...time to prepare for a visit from Swansea...twelve games to go...take them one at a time...
Loved reading the thread and seeing the concern over Mata coming in (not saying people were wrong I was thinking the same thing RVP back, Mata coming in United could make a run) and then the Fulham match happened and we remembered that Moyes was the manager.
Everton and Spuds are now the main competition for 4th. Arsenal may slip and allow us all a shot at 3rd, but we'll have to wait and see a few weeks for that.
Easter is the time.... But...If I hear/read someone say it's in our own hands now, I will find their GPS coordinates from their IP server and send them a tomahawk missile.
Anyone notice how sickly Tim Sherwood looks? And how worn and weathered David Moyes appears? Unhealthy profession.
Ever since the loss to the chavs, we've garnered 20 points of the available 24 (the dropped four being against Aston Villa and WBA) and scored 26 goals. If'n we can cut those gifts to the opposition, that title would be half-way to Anfield already.
Dang - that pic looks like the brat down the street that lights things on fire and steals lunch money from his classmates
