Wow really. I thought he was Mexican since the start of last season haha. Failed on my part. Nevermind, he would've been an interesting option if he was Mexican.

    Mexico vs Nigeria

    Herrera, Medina, Montes

Herrera needs to bring his club form into country tonight, he will be key in the attack - if Herrera goes, the attack goes i feel.

Medina, whelp apparently hes here to stay i guess. He needs to show that he can control the midfield and support Herrera more often than not.

Montes is feel is getting his last shot to prove his worth. He will be the one im looking at tonight to see how vulnerable he is with the physically strong Nigerian midfield. He carries himself with confidence which is great, hes comfortable in his ability and we need that from him tonight, his speed and agility speed will be tested against this physically strong Nigerian side.

Attacking Mids- Pena, Herrera, Brizuela, Fabian
    Defensive Mids- Chaton, Zavala

Medina & Vasquez sucks. Montez is too short against real strong world class teams and did not show anything he showed in past games.

Zavala it's not a Holding mid, and in 2 years that both Rayados and the NT had try him to grow in that role, he has shown that it's not his position.

I don't think we should discount Herrera as a Dmid yet. For the next friendly in which the Euros play I would like to see the midfield composed of:

    -------Herrera-------
    Gullit-------------Brizuela

    Or
    ---------Chaton-------
    Gullit------------Herrera

I also think Chaton deserves a call up as well. He could be slotted in as a D-Mid when protecting leads or provide more possession and ball recovery in the midfield.

Rewatched the game, and kept an eye out on medina.....yall hate, he wasn't event hat bad.

BUT i will acknowledge he's a club player, Not tall/fast enough to play at the level the WC will demand. Still what he does on the field goes unsung. Someone like Montes who has the time in mex to pull his bootleg little ball maneuvers yesterday was out of his depth and getting caught holding the ball for millenniums. Herrera was holding the ball too but he had the vision and physical capacity to shake the mark.

Medina at least understands the speed of the game and when he had the ball he would try and move it up field right away to the more offensive players. Physically he just cant compete.

Chaton needs to get healthy and ask guardado wtf he did to cure the glass body syndrome.

Wilson Tiago from Toluca, does he have Mexican passport yet? He played for years with Morelia and now back the last few years with Toluca. Most of his career has been in Mexico, 7+ years total I think. He's got 3 kids, all born in Mexico!!!

Sorry but I'm desperate. DM is a major hole and players with NT quality it's Chaton and nobody else right now.

    Brizuela, Zavala, Gullit
Brizuela is riding high with his past performances in league and at this level, hopefully he keeps up his hunger for El Tri.

Zavala needs a big game also, he needs to be able to control the midfield unlike Medina has in past games. I feel good about his inclusion again, he has experience at international level and for me has only fell off with the rest of the group in the summer.

Gullit, im a little worried - not with his ability but with his fitness, hes played so many games in the past couple of months. Im sure hell be off at HT so im sure he can give a good strong 45

Wish we had mier so we could move either rafa or reyes to dmid. This is by far are weakest position, and one of the most important. If we cant control the midfield we have no chance in brazil.

After zavalas disaster maybe Chaton will get called up. I'm sick of all the talk about him but he might be our only option.

That ship has sailed this cycle.

    Chaton isn't going to Brazil.

It will be either Medina or Herrera starting in the holding mid role. Depends on what Piojo's looking for.

    Is it really too late?

I don't how many friendlies remain but if Piojo capped Zavala, Chavez and Fabian, I don't know why Enriquez can't get a look.

Our next game is May 28th, two weeks before the world cup starts.

I think this was the last game for observing new players.

Wouldn't be opposed to Chaton being given a look but it is what it is.

I'm also not sure how well he would fit in this system. Enriquez seems to me to be the kind of player at this stage in his career who with his physical presence and destroyer capabilities, needs a Robin to his Batman in the middle, whereas the holding mid in this current scheme stands alone as a "5."

Also, it is evidently critical in this system for the holding mid to simplify things, to link and distribute quickly and effectively. Chaton is still a work in progress in that regard. He's not a bad passer, just not the most efficient. Not his strongest suit at the moment.

It will be Herrera, Medina, or Vasquez playing that position.

Jona would have been perfect for this role. Ugh.

So is Jona totally out of the question?

When does he return from injury?

A big "told you so" regarding Zavala. I see him every 15 days live, I know what I'm talking about.
