38' 1-0, 0-1 Korea DPR pass inside-out and break the trap at 30m. #10 Choe Mi Gyong is in alone with two defenders chasing. She dribbles through box top 6-left to 12m, as #12 Hilda Carlén comes way out to 8m and sprawls at her feet. Choe doesn't pull the trigger on the far-post chip shot, finally rounds Carlén to the left -- too far, and loses her angle. Saves the ball at 0.5m 6-left, holds with a wall of 4 defenders coming. Backpass to #11 Kim Myong Gum behind box top left. Kim touches centerward, and shoots a mini-lob to the right post -- Carlén lunge-dives and right-palms it onto the right post 3/4 high, and Sweden clears! That was going in ...

43' 1-1, 0-1 Sweden (#15 Antonia Göransson?) pass through the center circle to #9 Sofia Jakobsson just past circle left -- and it breaks Korea DPR's way-way too-high trap line!! Jakobsson touches down the left, and she's alone -- dribbles into 9m 6-left! Cuts back to shake the one defender, carries across the 6-top with the goal at her mercy -- and does the very same sharp right-foot cutback at 7m left post. #1 Hong Myong Hui reacts, dives that way, and palms the ball -- but it deflects hard off her hand and still bounces in at the left post.

I was being sarcastic but I neglected to include the  And I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks the flip throw is a silly gimmick.

The NZ-Brazil game seems to be an adventure in goalkeeping....

Brasil keeper down for a bit after a collison with a defender. NZ service is excellent on these long free kicks.

Kiwi keeper almost drops it into her net again in stoppage time!

51' 1-1, 0-1 Some unintended excitement -- Korea DPR hoof a speculative ball through box top right, and Sweden fail to clear the first bounce! It bounces inside the box as #10 Choe Mi Gyong bursts past the last 2 defenders -- it's in her stride, but it just never comes down! And #12 Hilda Carlén catches it chest-high.

52' 1-2, 0-1 #15 Antonia Göransson collects at center circle right, goes centerward around one defender -- turns upfield with two on her back. Outsprints them both, through box top left post with four on her back, to 7m 6-left, and blasts low past #1 Hong Myong Hui's sprawl to the right back corner. She dribbled from midfield past the entire defense

54' 1-2, 0-1 Korea DPR chips an entry to 5m left post -- #11 Kim Myong Gum ghosts in unmarked, volleys it on the grass, and chips it just wide.

55' 1-2, 0-1 Korea KPR subs in in #15 Ho Un Byol for #14 Yun Hyon Hi.

What's the betting that the FIFA media report will pretend this never happened ?

57' 1-2, 0-1 Korea DPR right corner, played short(?), then crossed in. Fresh sub #15 Ho Un Byol lunges unmarked from 7m to 5m mid-left, but glances her header down and just wide.

60' 1-2, 0-1 Korea DPR subs in #12 Kim Un Ju for #10 Choe Mi Gyong. Man, they are not settling for the loss ...

    59' 1-2, 0-2 #2 Leah Lynn Gabriela Fortune scores!

62' 2-2, 0-2 Korea DPR step forward into a Swedish clearance at 27m (5 mowed stripes) wide right, one-touch a high cross to 6m center. #17 Jon Myong Hwa runs in a pocket amidst three yellow shirts, rises alone and heads in to left back low.

68' 2-2, 0-2 #15 Antonia Göransson puts on a show -- dribbles 1-v-2 into the deep right corner, splits them and cuts into the box right -- then shakes a 3rd defender to 10m mid-right, and finally loses it off the 4th defender's heels. And for an instant, she's stumbling alone, with five red shirts in a loose semicircle around her ...

74' 2-3, 0-2 Sweden right corner, played short, then crossed high to 6-top center. #1 Hong Myong Hui leaps into her own defender's airspace, muffs the high catch, and it deflects through her fingertips, and goes backward toward the goal at (her) mid-right! #2 Hyon Un Hui lunges backward to her own line, and heads over, just inside (her) right post 1/2 high. Opera ghost!!

    7+2 (6-4) Sweden
    6+1 (5-4) Korea DPR
    4+1 (3-2) Brasil
    0-4 (2-6) New Zealand

    Not boring any more :D

Rosie White's goal was one of the most beautiful close-quarters ball tricks since Bergkamp's flick. Ping at Brasil's box top, New Zealand controls at 20m box right. Quick pass to box top 6-right (#10 Annalie Longo?). She threads a short vertical pass to 7m 6-right, splitting two defenders. #11 Rosie White opens her hips to the ball (so her shoulders are orthogonal to Brasil's goal), one-touches with her trailing left leg, ball rolls sideways in front of the last defender coming inside-out, as White goes behind her. White collects alone at 6-top right post, and blasts in to the upper left corner.

And then Brasil's restart goes like this: backpass, one-touch lob to 30m as #9 Debora burns the back line mid-right, through box top center, rounds #20 Erin Nayler at 15m center, taps in. New Zealand just doesn't have the population base to field 11 players with 92 minutes of gas ...

Yes - the reality has been expunged from history => "denied by the crossbar" http://www.fifa.com/u20womensworldcup/news/newsid=1275681.html#germany+finish+eliminate+france

Now that I see it myself, it was worse than Lampard's goal - from either direction how could the linesperson miss it ??? I would hate to be the GK that has to live with it, because this time Germany had nothing at stake.

Well thern I must see the replay, because Bergkamp's was the best rabbit-out-of-a-hat that I was ever lucky to see. Thank you for the coverage.

Edit - actually I saw the FIFA video replay, and it is a gem. It makes up for the stupid penalty she gave away v DRPK.

Also obvious from their last two games is that the NZ defence is theior problem. Which makes me think that this DRPK team is not that good, as they needed the PK gift to beat them.
