kudos to whichever team makes it. the draw was uneven, and the likes of a team like Ghana or South Africa won't advance because of this.

Oceania U17 qualifiers are taking place in Auckland from April 9 to 14.

It's a round-robin tournament featuring the Cook Islands, New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea and host nation New Zealand, with the group winners qualifying for Azerbaijan 2012.

The Young Ferns are shortly heading east - they head off on tour to Argentina in a fortnight.

    Cheers,

Well, the likes of South Africa had some pretty horrible results during the last U-17 WWC. ;)

Can it really be true that the U17 Euros are in June this year?
Says UEFA. But that's Tuesday to Friday. Last year, the finals were at the end of July, ending on a Sunday, and 29 July is a Sunday this year too.

(Why does this matter? Because I want to go, and there's no way I could make the June date.)

I think the U17 are always early in the season, last year was an exception

Hey ScousKiwi - how do NZ look ?
They beat Australia which must be an upset? It will be good to see how they do against a stronger opposition -

    Hi On The Floor,

How do they look? Well, like you and me, they've all got a pair of eyes, so ... :) (Sorry, couldn't resist!)

Seriously, they're heading east in just under a fortnight for some games in Argentina. That'll be a good experience for them.

You over-estimate Australian women's football, by the way. I believe they've got a fair few problems over there, to be honest. They haven't qualified for any women's finals at youth level since switching confederations mid last decade, and the team they sent across to play us then went on to play in the Asian qualifying tournament - didn't do too well there, did they? :)

    Cheers

See also the UEFA Calendar. Once is an error, twice is probably deliberate.

Thanks - looks like it. That's it for me and the U17s this year then. Or maybe I'll end up not minding so much, if Germany shouldn't manage to qualify.

Edit: there will be 2 small tournaments, the first for boys U16NT on February 27-29, with Slovenia, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Poland, and the second for girls U17NT on March 2-4, with Slovenia, Slovakia, Greece and Italy.
According to the Slovak football website (and Google translate ;)), the matches will be checked through a monitoring system called The Zone

Wow- again Kiwis can fly -scouskiwi thanks for posting this

I remember asking you then NZ beat Australia in 2011 - thinking that was pretty good- but your comment was Australia wasn't that great- but surely this latest tour- results indicates things are bright for NZ going forward.
It appears to me lots of things are going right for NZ development
Some pretty high compliments also for some of the Kiwi kids coming from their coach ?
Bodes well for U 17 world cup

    Bratislava U17 Tournament matches:

    Italy-Greece 3-0
    Slovenia-Slovakia 5-4 (after PK)

    Final:
    Italy-Slovenia 3-0

4 of the 6 italian goals have been scored by Francesca Pittaccio, a 16yo I never heard of, who currently plays as the only female in the all-boys young team of club Lodigiani, that takes part in the regional junior championship in Lazio.
I'll have a look at this girl and how she goes on, looks promising! :)

The first leg of the Tunisia-Gambia qualifying series has been delayed a week (to the weekend of 16-18 March), and the return leg has also been delayed a week (to the weekend of 30 March-1 April).
