Guatemala could score, but in general don't really pose much of a threat in attack. Ahmed Musa the star of Nigeria, but in general the attacking players are running circles around the Guatemalan defence.

The Guatemalan keeper is one stupid mofo (great instinct though)... gave Nigeria the chance to lob him twice in the first half. Fortunately for him Kayode, the guy who had the chance to lob him, is almost as dumb as Kayode...

Yes we had a couple of chances to score but generally poor attack. The Nigerians will kill you if every extra cm of space you give them in the area. Hopefully we can hold Nigeria at 2 and try to create something.

Agree about the keeper Garcia. He's very nervous.

Sorry... looks like it won't be Guatemala's day... I'm surprised that this team beat USA. Maybe they got overly frightened by the opposition, but honestly no competition.

    4:0

The defense seems to be very nervous and making foolish mistakes. Is gonna start to look ugly now.

Lol at that goalkeeping by Paul. Hope it makes the highlights of this match :D

Took Guatemala the loss of 4 goals to finally start playing.

EDIT: Match ends 5:0. The score more or less reflects the play, although Guatemala are unlucky not to have scored a consolation goal.

Very weird coaching... His team is 5:0 up and he waits until added time to make substitutes. Why he didn't give his reserves some playing time is beyond me.

Some very good football by Nigeria - probably the best I've seen at this tournament so far (didn't see Spain play though), although their ridiculous chill mode after 4:0 up really showed they lacked maturity.

Correct. Only then they felt relaxed like they have nothing to lose.

CR-SPA: Despite the final score, the Costa Ricans gave a real scare to the Spaniards and at one point almost equalized at 2-2. As expected the Spain players are very technically able and pass the ball very well, but the game wasn't nearly as easy for them as one could have expected. I think Spain is going to have to show more aggressiveness in future matches. Their goalkeeper didn't seem too sound either.

Spain beat costa rica 4-1 like how Colombia won against France.

I knew that Nigeria would win in a big score like what they made.

I would have to see Spain and Nigeria play against a real team. Also like S. Korea. Has there been another team so far that has beaten a 'very good' team in a high score like how Colombia did to France.

In youth tournaments, home advantage is huge. Ask Mexico.

Ridiculous indeed!!! I mean clubs are n pre-season FFS, plus most of the players at these competitions hardly get any playtime with their clubs (those that play in the main european leagues...tho strange enough its the clubs in those leagues that are the most troublesome in these issues . Cameroon for one had to make a last minute change (they literally sent in their list of 21 players, 1 day b4 they travelled, their star playmaker signed for a new club & the new club in question refused to let him travel...They had to file a request to FIFA for an emergency substitution...

Its still just at the start....but even still, I'll disagree with you...I could not stand the U-17, and I really really tried! Everytime I tuned in, I found my self, 10 mins later, going through tv guide trying to figure out what else was on tv lol..

I have found a few games @ the U-20 so far engaging...maybe coz I already have the pre-conception that atleast the U-20s are typically more experienced than the U-17s...

Although I will go on a limp here & say the WWC has been, SO FAR, the best FIFA comp of 2011...

    Saudi Arabia tearing Croatia apart...2-0!!!

Terrible display by Croatia and to be honest im not surprised..Shame really as there is talent problem is HNS did not take this tournament seriously..7 days of preperation for a major tournament lol..These guys looked like they were out of gas after 50 minutes lol..Oh well hopefully the players at least show some pride the next 2 games..

Watched the highlights of Spain - Costa Rica 1:4. Some terrible defending there.

Croatia - Saudi Arabia 0:2: Saw highlights and was impressed by Croatia's long range efforts. Have no idea whatsoever why the consolation goal for Croatia was dissallowed.

Ecuador - Australia 1:1: Nice game by Ecuador and probably deserved to win it, but Australia's equalizing free kick is the goal of the tournament so far.

    Obvious offside was the reason.

The first dissallowed goal was offside. I'm talking about the goalmouth situation - the replays didn't show anything, but I only watched them. Was there also an offside there?

Gah, horrible crap from us. Team has a lot of attacking talent but can't play from the back for shite. I'm just hoping Spain get bored of scoring against us at 4-0.

You mean the deep cross that was headed back to the box? It was a goal kick, the ball crossed the line.

Ok. Didn't see that in the replay, as they didn't give us a proper shot.

today games from medellin: if we see, most likely, 2 ties
one in mex vs korea and arg vs england

will that result eliminates mexico or korea? since, the next match for korea is vs. argentina, and they will move on with a tie on the last game....???

very interesting, every one has to go for 3 points or else

Remember that 4 3rd teams progress as well, so 3 points in 3 games may be enough to progress. Mexico need a draw, but even a loss doesn't eliminate them.

Just finished watching last night's late matches.

KSA-CRO: Nice win for Saudi Arabia. The match was pretty even until they got lucky with a deflection on the first goal, and it was over after that as they played to counterattack effectively, against a Croatian attack that was never a real threat. That 'disallowed goal', however -- I have my doubts about the goal having crossed the goal line when the Croatian player headed it back.

ECU-AUS: Ecuador thought they had 3 points in their pocket, and Australia wasn't showing any sense of urgency to equalize. Then 2 minutes from the end a really dumb foul sets up a 35+ yd free kick and Thomas Oar scores the best goal of the tournament so far to save a point for Australia. Amazing.
