You're right. I got lucky I beat you by a combined score of 7-3. I don't think I am good because I use USA, but if I beat you with USA imagine a five star team? It could get real ugly. And I love the "luck" comment. I get it from friends when I beat them too.

I don't think you are lucky. The reason I like playing you even though you generally beat me is that you play with skill. You aren't one of those methodical players that exploits flaws in the game. I remember one goal you scored where you played it out wide, cross far post, headed near post to another player and headed past my keeper. Very nice.
Thanks for the nice words man and I enjoy playing against you too. You were one of my more difficult opponents thus far. But I know what you mean, the guys who know some ins and outs of the game and look for CPU flaws to win. Example, corner kicks to the far back post...if done correctly a guy will be wide open and will score. It happened to me thrice before I figured out the glitch. So now I am aware of that trick on every corner and can defend it by moving my defender in that vicinity if I feel the opponent is headed in that direction. And yeah I believe Dempsey scored that goal.
The problem is that I don't match them in cheesiness. Seriously, the "best" team I play at the moment is Toronto FC. I usually use Wellington Pheonix just for the hell of it and I'd even stoop to using Chesterfield for matches online too. These teams are pretty much only 2.5 stars - max. I've already come across a couple of people who use the same tactic over and over again and I just laugh at them and think "Buddy, you're nothing without your speed".
For me, playing with a 2 ½ star team is too low. I feel they are just too crappy of players. I usually don’t go below 3 ½, in fact I don’t at all. Unless the other guy goes with a really low team, then I will choose a lower team. I generally like playing in the 3 ½ - 4 ½ range.
Speed is a nice commodity to have but not a necessity. A lot of less-skilled players rely heavily on it (i.e. the Manchester United and Barcelona glory hunters). Similar to real life, if you can anticipate where the ball is going then you can negate their speed. But unless you have a perfect game defensively, you can still expect a breakaway or two.
Yeah I agree. The occasional 5 star game is fun too. But I won't go underneath 3.0 stars unless I'm doing an MLS game or something similar.
Ajax are only 3.5 stars but overall very competitive. I am able to beat many lesser skilled opponents who choose Man U/Barca. The forwards are rated 74/76/79 across the board. The midfielders are 76/72/74. The defenders are 70/77/78/74. Not too shabby.
Stars are based largely on the bench. For instance a team with no bench at all (guys in the low 60s) will be a little lower than it should be. A team with 75's to the 26th man will get a star booster. I noticed this when playing in dynasty mode. I would add a new 72 rated guy for my bench and get half a star boost. Sell all my bench players to make money and I will drop in stars. Anyway, its often about where guys are rated than overall rating.
So have any of you guys completed all your games? I have about five left in the league. Do you guys even go in there anymore?
Got a question... I was playing against a guy in Ultimate Team the other day. His team was lower rated than mine, so he would hold possession in his defensive end for most of the game, and then suck me in and try to break it up the field and score. It worked. He scored one, then held the ball again, never crossing the midfield. Drove me ********ing nuts! The thing that pissed me off more was that my teammates wouldn't attack the ball handler or try to cut off his passing lanes!!! Even when I held down the "B" button which calls in the extra player to the ball. We'd both charge him, and he'd pass it off to an open player, over and over and over again. So how do I get my teammates to cut off the passing lanes while my user controlled player attacks the ball handler?

Yup, nobody goes on anymore. The ones that I do see online I played already. It's a two horse race anyway, franco and Salvibeto are running away with it anyway.
Well one guy in the club league never showed up again after a poor record in his first few matches. So unless there is a way to give him the boot then the league is stuck as he will never finish.
i scored the best goal, i was playing as lyon against wolfsburg. the keeper went to punt the ball, govou runs in front of it and takes it and scores in the 90th minute to win 4-2 haha.
