I have been thinking about this as well. The most likely surgery is a hip replacement, which is a big deal and will put him out of action for a while if his rehab goes well. I hope to god hes not retiring. Possibly clinging to straws, but if it is a hip replacement, then its elective and Fergie can choose when to do it. That being the case, I wonder about the timing. The way Fergie is setting up it means we can easily justify bringing someone like Moyes in as Assistant Manager. He can manage everything while Fergie's away. If Fergie recovers well, Moyes can spend the rest of the season learning from Fergie, but ready to take over at the end of the next season or whenever. If Fergie doesnt come back or is delayed, then Moyes can have his shot.
And there were some rumours today that Mourinho's talks with Chelsea have stalled in the last 2 days. With him being aware of potential Ferguson departure, he'd do anything to get the United seat. I would love the scenario of Ferguson as a manager and Mourinho as an assistant for a season and after that, he takes over. They adore each other so much that I could see a possibility of that happening. But their egos are probably to big so I think that's not happening.
I came home and read that stuff, it would be crazy to imagine Fergie leaving. Personally I would not mind it, but I still do think he will have a big influence on how the new manager will act. He would want to be involved maybe not in the tactics but personnel management. For example, let's say Moyes wants Nani to stay by giving him a large deal and Fegie does not, or Moyes wants to bench Valencia, what would happen then? I still think he would still have too much influence how the club will be run. I would be extremely happy with Queiroz coming back personally, there would be more stability I think.
was just thinking my self....95% of the forum only knows one manager. I truly hope this is all BS bc I am dreading tomorrow
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck no Time to get the old rosary beads out and pray to Allah/Buddha/Whoever and hope Fergie doesn't go.
I think it would be a good time to leave. Time to rebuild the squad with fresh ideas and tactics. The next manager should have great tactical knowledge, keeping the emphasis on the Man Utd youth tradition and learning personnel management from Fergie. It would be a perfect fit, an attack minded technical coach with the help of fergie helping him manage big heads.
Just to throw this out there for the sake of discussion: Fergie is doing this on his own accord to see if Mourinho wants the United job before The Special One goes back to Chelsea.
Would almost be worth it to see the faces of Chelsea fans if we nick Mourinho from under their noses. Almost.
It's ironic, seeing so much fear and anxiety yet a lot of these same people criticize other fans for not being "tough" enough or "real" enough fans. Humans.
