Made this thread to get an idea on how people feel we did in the CL.

I think we did a great job proved many people wrong we came out of a group that many predicted we'd come last in or 3rd and always played for the full game always trying to get a goal.

I'm happy for the boys...I think we far surpassed even our own expectations....when we found out our group, many of us didn't see us coming out but that first tie with ManShitty put things in perspective...what a bunch of highs on this run...man...its just sad to go out after leading the series but all things considered, I think we were on borrowed time.

That being said, it was a great experience for us and the boys...plenty to learn from here...and now, focus on Serie A and Coppa Italia only...maybe, just maybe, this exit is for the best. My worry is that this poor result spills over into the league...we must be strong and pull through...we've been on a great roll...it needs to continue.

Proud of the boys and if you told me at the start we would beat Chelsea, Man city and get out of the group stage i would of taken it.

But i cant help feeling like it was an opportunity lost, its hard to get to the quarters of the champions league and we were half way there. Hopefully we can make it back for next season and show the other teams we deserve to be there

I think that Napoli showed that San Paolo is one of the hardest places to be for the visitors. And also that Napoli is a European top team. Very good experience for the team. Next year lets try again.

We showed the world what our strengths were and definitely showed what our weaknesses were. That being said, for a first time CL appearance we did superb. All we need to do is make it in the top 3 in serie A (Very achievable from how we have been performing) and i assure you De La will spend a little pepe on summer signings. 2-3 more quality players and we might be a top 5 club in the world. Also, i dont care for it however winning the copa italia would be nice :p

As depressed as i was yesterday, when i looked backed at what this club has achieved in the last 6 years, it has been nothing short of remarkable. This club is one of the joys of my life and i never thought i would see the day that i would be watching Napoli in the knockout rounds of the CL after those years of finding shittty streams online to watch them in serie C. I know most of you feel the same way. Lets finish this year strong and do the right moves in the summer and we might be talking about the treble soon ;) FORZA NAPOLI RAGAZZI

its funny going around the other forums hearing people say "Napoli has reached their peak and now all our talent will leave" what you guys think will one of our or all of a tenors leave this summer i doubt it they should know that if they were to go to another team that they will fall on their asses !

If we make CL again hope everone stays and we fix up the D. Looking at this from De Las perspective the competition was great......Not just from cash generated from the tournament, but also serving purpose to increase market value of the 10ers.
We don’t make CL next year and there is a mega offer for one or more of the 10ers I doubt De La will not capitalize on a possible deal....and spread the money around (for the D, Mid: LW CM, replacement forward).
Ifs it Europa Im hoping we invest in youth (but with high potential) and use the completion to develop them....and rotated the team so that we can be more competitive in the league and possibly return in CL.

we are only half way through develop guys, this is the exciting part we learn from our mistakes, dela is learning at the same time, and so is mazzari, we will get stronger as long as dela sticks to what he knows best, we have a core culture and that is our base we have already buit on it, we just have to keep doing that and we will get better

It was like hooking up with a chick when you're really drunk and enjoying it, but then you wake up the next morning and don't like what you see next to you. lol

Good run by Napoli......... BUT ... it was a big missed opportunity to
at least play QFs of UCL football and earn another 6m

The 2nd leg was crying for 4411/4231 from Napoli...and
ball possession (especially since Napoli couldn't defend against Chelsea crosses)

De La now needs to figure what he wants with his club ..
because it will require different thinking from the owner and coaches to move forward to the next step...

Why did Napoli buy Vargas again?
.....he doesn't fit into - run wing play and hoofball counter attacking football

So you think they are not good enough.....but you want to keep them....

    ....really why?

With monies they will fetch you can build a even stronger squad.......

What im saying is that its their partner ship that is making play great football and if they broke apart i dont see them performing the same way for another team not saying they would be bad or anything just that might not have the same affect as they had at Napoli

Your 2nd point is true we would be able to build a stronger squad but my fear is Mazzari do you see him a manager to build a team around.

We bought Vargas thinking he would be like Lavezzi but with a better shot on goal.

It was a great run when you consider where this club came from. I still felt that with a little luck on our side we could have advanced in that game. But Chelsea's quality is what pushed them through.

This squad needs better better defenders

Us playing 4 at the back would have never happened. Mazzarri is not a believer in changing the D from 3 to 4 and 4 to 3 from weekend to weekend....he thinks its too radical.
The current system works when you have guys like Maggio and Zuniga because they can give you width and hold there own both offensively and defensively.....but put dossena on and ur f****d.
But formation thing really doesnt bother me........you could play 4-5-1 and be an incredibly offensive team and play 3-4-3 and be defensive. In the end hamsik this year has been playing closer to the mid, Cavani even comes back for the team and defends balls, leg 2 was also an example of this.
At this point the formation is more or less set in stone as 3-4-3 / 3-4-1-2. And we can play that formation as an attacking team or a counterattacking team. Its inevitable however that D is going to get tested no matter how we play. Building this team has been a work in progress. When De La bought the team he said he wanted and team that would be playing and fighting in the CL and as entertaining as Real Madrid. He got it, we just have to fine tune some things.

i haven't been around the boards since the tough defeat, but napoli made them selves and italy very proud! from a team no one outside of italy and few in thought would get out of the group stages, you guys played great attractive tough football and represented serie A in a great way. despite the loss the team had the effort the whole time, and although all you (and myself among other teams fans as well) hoped you guys would get through, it was a fun ride and you guys showed the world napoli means business. hopefully you guys us and milan qualify for cl next year and we take it by storm! :) cheers and i really think you guys were better than chelsea, they for whatever reason were able to ride the home side luck. talent wise you guys are much better than at least a few of the final 8, got a bad draw (in groups and in knockoffs) and still were so close to greatness. im rooting for you guys to make cl, de la has shown he will take the committment serious, and hopefully in a few years all of europe will know of the intensity of the san paolo.
