This one may get messy. A win keeps pace and provides a momentum boost for sure. A loss here is really going to hurt and may be the first step to conceding the league. A draw will offer little to either side and give the front two breathing room.

The pressure is most deffinitely on.

We all know this is going to be a tough one without a doubt.
What I don't get is the league nominates a ref, that the last time he reffed a Sporting game he had a big pushing episode with a Sporting trainer.

Just hope there are no more cases in this league, this league has a bad reputation, and really doesn't need it.

sporting showed they fight until the end even when down, we came back against twente, against fiorentina, against olhanense, against hereenveen to get results.

but our defense is horrible. if hulk and rodriguez are on their game, they will destroy our D and feed falcao for easy goals (Polga certainly wont do anything to stop him from scoring in the air).

Did anyone see the LFC vs. debrecin game? Pedro Proenca was the ref. he didn't do to bad. Wonder if he refs Liga games.

Saw it, and yes, Proenca did excellent. Although it's usually easier to ref a game when one team is clearly superior to the other--it's a lot less contentious.

I hope Sportings midfield is on(Veloso in particular), because their defense isn't going to do them any favors. Carrico is going to try and cover 3 attacking forwards come game time I am sure...

Huge game for both sides..more so Sporting.

I agree, and disagree with your comments.
Agree that Sporting's defense is nothing but a one man show Carrico vs the opponents.
However I have to disagree that it's more important for Sporting. If you take into consideration Porto is coming off a 2 game losing streak, I would differ. This is a home game for Porto, and the pressure is all on them.

A win would be excellent, but a tie will also be Ok.

Don't look for this wide open game Sporting normally plays.
Oh well unless PB is off his rocker, which BTW is not totally unrealistic.

    PORTO's ERA IS OVER

this is where Sporting shuts the haters up and shows it has the Heart and determination to go all the way.

This game is huge for Porto. I cant remember the last time Porto had a three game loosing streak. I am soooo looking forward to seeing this game. Porto vs Sporting have always been hugely entertaining.

Sporting is the onyl one that actually threatens Porto. I only remember a couple occasions when "SL BENFICA" actually defeated FC Porto over the years. at least we have a whole catalogue of head 2 head victories against the blue mafia. you guys only come out every few years to stop Sporting from winning titleS (1994, 2005).

Porto winning the penta and the mourinho years were good tiems for Benfiquistas - it means that Porto relegated Sporting to 3rd overall in domestic titles.

Some pre-liminary lineups have been released by Ojogo.pt, and some interesting leave outs. Varela has been left out of the game, Mariano is taking his spot once more.

On the other side of the coin Sporting has left out Caicedo once more...

5 minutes in Carrico was covering a 3 on 1, in which he forced a weak Falcao shot.

Then 3 minutes later Polga commits a dumb foul just outside the box on Hulk, and Falcao acts like a flying fish once more to get his head on the ball for the opening goal.

Falcao is ridiculously talented in the air.

    1 - 0.

You have 2 League Titles in the last 15 years but you can easily say that you and Benfica both have 2 League titles in the last 16 years.

I want a table that shows the amount of league game wins Taca wins and European wins for a proper reference.

Hulk is tearing apart Sportings Defense. I feel bad for Carrico. Sporting very lucky Mariano couldn't handle that ball.

Its been a very wide open game thus far.
