Last weekend I was in Monterrey and attended the Tigres/Santos pre-season match. As I walked into the stadium (outside, too) I couldn't help but notice how alive the atmosphere was. Even with the stadium about 75% full, Los "Libre's y Loko's porra (all 100-125 of them) were in midseason form. They were jumping, chanting and singing feverously throughout the game. The loud speaker was blasting the Tigres fight song and a great majority of the crowd was chiming in. I couldn't help but think how cool (if done the right way) it would be to have some kind of fight song for FCD. I know you run the risk of sounding extremly gay, but I think it's worth the risk. With all the creative minds in this town, why do we not have a bad ass fight song? I was very impressed by the Tigres fan's passion and enthusiasm. All for a lousy pre-season game. Way to go Tigres! Very impressive. There's no reason to believe that the same can't be done here. "e"
Yes; suppression/emotional repression is difficult to work past.. and so are limiting "belief" systems. Welcome to The United States and MLS' goal of synthesizing The Beautiful Game here. My suggestion? Develop a 'core' expression/song with The Inferno that integrates the emotion/passion that we all want to communicate with the community of Frisco and outward.. and be persistent with your cause
Believe me this is not a new idea, weve been over it. I would love to be able to have a song similar to YNWA, just give it some time we'll come up with something
Commission a local rock band. Pantera's Dallas Stars song kicked ass, even if it wasn't something you could sing to.
what kind of a song is desired, folks? like an old-school fight song like "On, Wisconsin" ? or newer and robust like "I get knocked down, but I get up again" new words to an existing tune? ??? etc ???
yeah, they sing the theme from "Dallas" good. Out of ALL the chants and cheers and beats and songs The Inferno do, the only one since I showed up in Apr 2002 that didn't sound good to me was imho "all we are saying is give us a goal" because there's that big leap in the melody, plus it's kind of slow (Give Peace a Chance) that old blues, "Mean Ol' Frisco", has a repetitive word pattern over a medium tempo train beat take out all the instruments but the drums and it would be minor key and hypnotic with a bleak, threatening demeanor ... maybe that could be song "B": it ain't exactly "On Wisconsin" I'm not saying "Mean Ol' Frisco is a great idea (unlike Field 18 at Pizza Hut Park!) just brain-storming.
Maybe someone could come up with some FCD lyrics to "Deep in the Heart of Texas". Compared to some other Texas tunes (like the Yellow Rose of Texas), the Deep in the Heart of Texas melody is pretty easy to sing. And it's got a nice rythmic feel that would work well with the Inferno drum line: "da-da-da-DAH! da-da-da-DAH! --CLAP-CLAP-CLAP-CLAP-- Deep in the Heart of Texas!...."
The most genius chant I heard was at the lone EPL game I went to last year (Fulham-Leeds at Loftus Road). They took the big nah-nah chorus of 'Hey Jude' and changed it to 'Ful-ham.' So for us it would be Nah, nah nah nah-nah-nah nah Nah-nah-nah nah Dal-las. Easy, and guaranteed everyone in the stadium knows the melody.
don't even dream you'll beat our team etc throw out a ball we'll crush you-all etc save us the fuss stay on the bus etc Our laddie Ron can run 'til dawn etc our weather's nice just bring some ice etc you're turning green on Field 18 clap clap clap clap 'Cause It's Not Air-Conditioned! it's either warm a thunderstorm clap clap clap clap or else a big tornado you might survive come down alive clap clap clap clap no one can really say, though the last team fleed a big stampede etc well you can bet he'll find the net clap clap clap clap Car-lo sel-PESSS-ca-DI-to Come back real soon We'll sing this tune clap clap clap clap and you'll fly home with nothing &^%$#, some of these are half-verses in need of a mate. get on it! no, it didn't take me this long
That's great - beats the hell out of that gay Neil Diamond song (I wasn't singing that one lol). I also like the "I get knocked down, but I get up again, you're never gonna beat the Hoops..."
Good stuff, Fougs and Ze Bill The nice thing about "Deep in the Heart of Texas" is that practically everyone in the stadium would know when they're supposed to CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP and yell "Deep in the Heart of Texas". It might also be nice to come up with a slow Alma-Mater type song that we could sing at the beginning of the game (and maybe at the end) about our beloved Hoopsters -- kind of like the Aggies do with "Spirit of Aggieland" or UT does with "The Eyes of Texas".
After re-tooling a club's song for us... I give you....our fighting song! OH DALLAS HEAR OUR MIGHTY VOICE SING TO YOUR ELEVEN THIS HYMN OF JOY WE HONOR YOU TEXAS WITH VICTORY A WINNING TRADITION TO YOUR GLORIOUS HISTORY TOGETHER WE WILL WIN TRIUMPH TO THE END FIGHTING WITH TENACITY FOR YOU, FCDALLAS THE 12 WILL RISE THE TEXAS FLAG ALWAYS HIGH FOR THE RED AND WHITE FIGHT WITHOUT SURRENDER FULL OF GLORY AND MIGHT YOUR INMORTAL NAME TEXAS, FC DALLAS!
You guys are writing tons of words - do you really expect us to be able to remember these? I mean, we willlllllllllll be drinkin', you know...
That's why just singing the real lyrics to "Deep in the heart" makes a lot more sense. And it will facillitate in others joining in, too. Remember, "You'll Never Walk Alone" was a pop song when it they started singing it at Anfield....and they didn't change the words to fit in with some kind of Liverpool theme.
Hell yeah! That's part of the fun. Sh8t....futbol teams, at least in Mexico, have these complicated hymns. Listent to the barra hymns from Monterrey, Pumas, America, et al.....those crazy barra youts memorize endless hymns...Maybe its the beer...Maybe its all that cosumed ganja...wutever it is.....it works for 'em. If it works for 'em, a couple of Shiner Bocks should do the trick. If that fails, plan b. Plan B is what all barras do...Trance chanting as in.: Queremos....Gol Queremos....Gol Queremos....Gol Queremos....Gol Queremos....Gol Queremos....Gol Queremos....Gol Queremos....Gol Queremos....Gol Queremos....Gol Queremos....Gol Queremos....Gol Queremos....Gol Queremos....Gol Queremos....Gol Queremos....Gol Queremos....Gol Queremos....Gol Queremos....Gol Queremos....Gol Until...the actual gol shows up....by then...in an extactic trance and drunk....glory!
hey chapulincolorado, in verse 3, change "united we ...." to "together we will win" to foil the jerky boys! [wry emoticon here] Santos (BRA) had a formal school hymn-type song that one of Pele's former team-mates sang quite touchingly when he was interviewed for a biography of Pele on History Channel. slight detour: are there intentions to sing a Texas song after the National Anthem?
Do we really need to have a particular time to do it or should we just do it as we see fit? It might prove popular and, if so, people might want to sing it several times.
Has this one been done (to Bay City Rollers' "Saturday Night")? F-C-D-A-L L-A-S Dallas! (repeat 3 more times)
