I think that we have a winner: http://www.sdsmt.edu/Athletics/Mens-Teams/Soccer/Schedule-Results/ South Dakota School of the Mines, the Hardrockers are the first to post their schedule. I know they are DII, but props to them for getting their schedule done so early.

http://www.deseretnews.com/article/...ens-soccer-announces-first-ever-schedule.html Now UVU gets theirs out.
I'm amazed in their first year they're going to have 8 home games, one of which is one the easternmost schools traveling to them. I know nothing of Utah, so while this will look stupid, its a serious question...Is there something special about the locale or the coach that supported this many home games in their first year?
My only bet will be that UMASS is playing someone else out west and making this part of that trip. UNLV, GCU, etc. I would really doubt that they are making the trip just for this match.
Also possible that UMass' coach wanted to do them a favor. Time will tell whether UVU's coaches are effective at this level, but they're certainly well connected.
One other possibility is that there has been coordination with other sports. Maybe for the UMass soccer team to come out to UVU, the basketball team will play UMass at home twice for example. I know that this often happens. When Boise St would host the Bowl game in Boise, the team that came would agree to send their basketball team the next season.
Here are a couple more I found: IPFW: http://www.gomastodons.com/schedule.aspx?path=msoc Buffalo: http://www.ubbulls.com/sports/msoc/2014-15/schedule
Amazed at 8 home games? That's less than half the season. How many home games do you think they should have? They've had enough time to schedule a full slate of games, it's up to the coach and/or AD to approve/disprove the schedule when games are being scheduled. Typically the coach is in charge of scheduling, so they can schedule however many they want OR however many they can get.
Last year in their first year at D-1, (and they were also an independent) Incarnate Word had 2 home games.
8 is a lot from what I've seen of first year programs in the past couple of years. UNO, I believe had two in their first year. Noted above is the amount Incarnate Word had.
Good for both of them (or maybe bad?). I also don't know the timetable that each has had from announcement to season. That's two schools to one school. I don't think that's really that much to go off to say it's a trend? I know when Northern Kentucky announced, they had 6-8 months to plan their schedule and they still had 5 home games. Very similarly, Grand Canyon had 5 home games (maybe 10-11 months). Compare those moves to UVU's 2012 announcement to play men's soccer in 2014. It's a lot easier to schedule 2 years (or even 1.5 years) in advance than 6-10 months. I know numerous teams who have their following year schedule basically completed before their upcoming season even starts -- there's always times where you leave open dates to fill in at any moment. Heck, especially with the changes in conferences, schools have to have some flexibility too.
Add Navy: http://www.soccerwire.com/notes/navy-mens-soccer-announces-2014-fall-schedule/ Army-Navy will be back at PPL Park. I like that.

That is a lot of travel. Every conference match is only a one game trip??? I take it that CUSA does not use travel partners for soccer.
