It is a 2 month break for the England players. November and December, they have training camp in January, February and March with friendlies and World Cup qualifiers.
I was meaning about the FAWSL. The championship ended mid-september and starts again in april, or am I wrong ? And by the way, what is the historical reason for not playing in winter when the lower division (Premier Women's Northern/Southern, etc) keep playing ? As well as the men, of course...
Yes they want to play when the weather is better and when there is less competition with men's football. The ultimate aim is to have all women's football to be played as Summer football. The League finished in October indeed and clubs wil start their pre-season in January, with friendlies and trip abroad sometimes. FA WSL 2 teams will play the FA Cup from 9th of February and FA WSL 1 from 13th of April.
And the year 2013 finishes with an interview from the England captain Casey Stoney. All about wages, retirement and attitude to homosexuality.
