Goff suggests that the Sounders take Wells and trade him to a team needed GK depth. Chances are United could be that team. It's like the Dyachenko scam all over again.......
So am I dude. Peralta was a no brainer DC can get a solid 1st division defender from Argentina at the same price.. And I know am gonna get kicked for this but Gallardo un protected?????????? Olsen??????? SHOCKING. Gallardo say what you want his performance ON THE FIELD when healthy was world class.... DC and the Red Bull, need to get off this thinking that they can sign VERON, he is NOT coming to MLS and said he has no intrest in MLS... DC was not at all bad when they gelled.... This is quite shocking....
You're not thinking. The question is, `is there much risk in unprotecting those players.' If you list the players we want to hang onto, you come up with a list longer than eleven names. So you unprotect the ones that Seattle won't draft. Seattle isn't going to draft Olsen when it's unlikely he's ever going to play a single minute ever again. Seattle isn't going to draft Gallardo when they already have a DP and are only allowed one; and they aren't going to draft him to trade him to another team when no other team is interested because Gallardo's salary is third in the league while his injury status this year was scary.
They picked up his option but they can still trade him or leave him unprotected so Seattle assumes his salary.
It's shortly after 1pm. When should we expect to see picks announced? (Not that I'm bored at work or nothing. )
Seattle's website is directing folks to check back at Noon Pacific Time for the list. A little under two hours to go.
The draft was "held" at 1:00 PM Eastern, but one suspects that they are trying to contact all the draftees in order to avoid any sort of embarrassment at their press conference at 3:00.
I imagine they'll wait until all of the players selected are notified before announcing the list. asitis edit: Lowe beat me to it and said it better.
Hmm, I wonder if United could swing a deal for Ronnie O'Brien in SJ. Excellent set piece taker and winger. However he is expensive and I sincerely doubt we have anything that we could trade them. Just the fact that he is unprotected might show that he might want out or something.
I hate to burst the old bubble, but we get more rain per year in DC than they do in Seattle Seattle is just drizzlier
Ronnie O'Brien is a talented winger. He's also infamous (his rep as a locker room cancer in Dallas precedes him), and he's expensive. No thanks.
I suppose you guys already talked about this, but I just sort of figured it out... There's only 10 rounds in the expansion draft, so there's a chance no one from DC will be picked. A guy can hope!
