USSF guidance is that the restriction lasts from when the 'keeper gains possession until the ball is away. The player is allowed to maintain his position and the 'keeper must go around in this case. The player is not allowed to shadow the 'keeper, get in his way, or challange him.
Did Yura score? I do think RSL is missing his type of aggresive, defence harassing presence this season and I would bet Randers is very happy to have him on board.
No, he did not score. I think his only goal this year was off a PK. We might miss him but give Saborio a chance. He's seen very little time because he's brand new and needs to get worked into the rotation/team rhythm. I think he'll help us forget Yura - I don't think he'll waste his chances from what I've seen of him so far.
I agree. I think that Saborio is going to be great. My feeling is by the end of the year we will be saying "Yura who?"
I think Nelson Gonzales and Saborio are going to be quality replacements for Mathis and Yura NoAssistian.
He's back at St. Johnstone? I thought he went to Hamilton Academical. <goes to Wikipedia> Ahh...St. Johnstone, which is where he played on loan for a lot of the time that Gretna was in the SPL, has been promoted and signed him after a short-term contract with Hamilton expired. St. Johnstone has been doing pretty well, and are in mid-table, and actually beat Rangers 4-1 in March. Deuchar's scored 4 or 5 goals (I'm not quite sure) and couple of game winners, including one against Hearts, this season.
This was cute. http://www.mlssoccer.com/content/moreno-picks-seitzs-pocket I think seitz will obviously improve and be great but this is great for a chuckle.
Per Goff's twitter feed. Two goals in the first half by former Real Salt Lake forward Yura Movsisyan, who plays for Randers in Denmark
A little perspective... First 6 games. 1 goal (a PK he took). He touched and the flubbed a certain goal for his own team (-1). Earned a red card (so he sat out a match he could have played in. Scored 2 goals today (his 7th game, should have been 8th). I like Yura too, but let's not get carried away. If we had to lose Yura (probably) to get Alvaro... I think we netted out ahead on the deal. Saborio has 1 goal and 1 assist in 3 appearances (90 minutes of total game time). This guy is going to get it done!
That being said, Randers hasn't lost (posting 5 wins) since Yura came aboard for them. They are now in a position to fight relegation, 2 points below 10th (though one game over) and 5 points below 8th. It's tightening up and with another win or two, they could be in the thick of it. Compare the club's success to Donovan's loan and with positive press people could be arguing what Yura has done off the ball has made a big impact.
Great point, Yura, even if not scoring forces defences to stay back because he is always creating havoc, This leaves teams less effective pushing. Further I really think Yura's aggresive play rubs of on teamates. Randers has in Yura a player that they are very unlikely to want to give up on. RSL's loss!!!
Perhaps. It could be simply correlating events or cause-effect... It could be all because of Yura but so far the Danish press isn't laying it at his feet yet. Personally, he's had some really gaffes (the red card and preventing a goal for his team), mixed with blown opportunities, plus some fiesty field play, and 2 goals in today's game. Maybe it's him, maybe not - he's been a bit of a mixed bag so far (up until today).
I did watch a extended highlight clip from Randers first match, and a few other short clips since then and what I see is the same play that I appreciated from Yura when he was in Salt Lake. Super aggressive, Very hard working, Strong Physical pressence, A total pain in the ass for opposing defenders, and Yes, very few passes, Lots of shots and until today not as many conversions. All in all he still brings something to the pitch that I have yet to see from Findley, Espindola, Campos or Saborio.
Jamie Watson scores for Austin in a surprise win over defending champ Montreal. http://www.google.com/hostednews/canadianpress/article/ALeqM5jKbfL_iGARK1IJQn_J7U23rMc1AQ Also, Joey Worthen is playing with Watson at Austin: http://www.tribalfootball.com/austin-aztex-acquire-worthen-and-marshall-763141
Sure. But they each bring something he doesn't as well. Do you believe Yura is a better striker than all those? Personally, I think he's at best "on par" with Findley and Espindola. Perhaps better than Campos (we've seen so little of him) and not as good as Saborio - this is a guy who's AVERAGED for better or equal teams a little better than 1 goal every 2 games. Yura has yet to do that in one season...
As you can see from my posts, I am a fan of Yura and wish he were still in Salt Lake. Let me answer your question like this: Given the choice, I would take Yura over Findley, Campos or Espindola. I have not seen enough of Saborio, but hope he can lead RSL back to the playoffs. During the second half of last weeks match against Seattle I really felt that RSL needed the type of aggresive, physical play that Yura brought. Findley has speed, Espindola is gifted and savy, but short of his tackle at Houston is not very Physical, and Campos looks like a project and a prayer. Remember Yura's age and mark my words his future in Europe will be bright. Our only hope of seeing him again maybe if he gets a look with the National Team and that is not so far fetched.
I see wall the qualities you mention about Yura. I think he was a very good prospect at forward and the *potential* to be a great forward (but he wasn't/isn't one yet). Why not? First, he's selfish to a fault on the ball. This means defenders don't worry as much about him passing and they have an easier time closing him down so he AND his team score less goals. Second, all that physical power/aggressiveness is unrefined. Too often he would poorly miss open chances - he wouldn't just miss a little, he'd miss by 20 yards... this means he can't quite yet control his power. Top strikers have to be consistent at making the most (at least forcing saves or nearly so) on those chances. --------------- Having said all that, I'd tell you that in general terms here's how I compare the 3 strikers and key quality/attribute. If you could combine all 3 into one they'd be the perfect striker. Espindola has the best touch and is the most technically talented. He is the BEST finisher of the three. Findley has the most speed & quickness. He has the BEST pace of the three. Yura has the BEST strength/power of the three. He's great on positioning and he's very strong on the ball - guys can't push him off the ball and he uses his body well. Each of those guys have things that frustrate me. Before I'd say any one of them were clearly better than the other you have to look down to results (both goals/assists AND what they do for the team off the ball). All three of those guys can be top quality strikers in a league like MLS or Denmark. I don't think any of the three can be top strikers at much higher levels because their weaknesses become too easily exposed at those levels... but you never know and they can continue to improve.
