    Jeff has always racked up assists. His career stats are 121 goals and 68 assists. ith RSL it was 18/11.

    That's not bad.

    That is 63 career and 6 RSL assists more than Yura Movsisyan.

    Yura = Championship
    Jeff = no playoffs

    i'll take the less goals if its going to get me that cup again

    I think you are evaluating the variables wrong.

    Jeff + Current Defense = Championship
    Yura + '06-'07 defense = no playoffs

    I don't think it was Jeff or Yura; I think it was the defense. If you were to just compare the two, I'm willing to bet that Jeff would've put away a lot more of the chances Yura had. He was/is a much more consistent striker than Yura is. It didn't matter how many goals Jeff scored while he was here, the defense allowed just as many or more. RSL had a -6 goal differential in 2006, and a -14 gd in 2007.

    Jeff has been known to be a bit of a cancer in the locker room though...
    Great player, but if he isnt a good teammate its all for not (not saying Yura is any better, just pointing out a flaw of what could be a great striker)

    there are pros and cons to both players, trying to evaluate either on the accomplishments of RSL during their time here does nothing to further the argument for each individually. jeff was a better player (for RSL) than yura, period. he scored MORE and assisted a lot MORE. you could say that his goal scoring rate was a product of being the lone good forward on a bad team, but then how do you disregard his quality assist numbers (which should have won him an all star or starting IX at the end of the year, even strong consideration for MVP). but his team was crap and never got into the playoffs so some people feel that diminishes his quality as a player. jeff was also a less team guy and that hurt overall as well.

    yura on the other hand was a clutch player that scored some decent goal numbers, but never ever got his teammates involved and got almost no assists. but his quality got RSL important goals at important times that ultimately resulted in a MLS cup. while he might not have been quite the anti team player jeff was, he did provide the team substantial distractions during last summer that hurt/prevented RSL's ability to get results. that cannot be ignored.

    i think Senor is correct, its really the defense. you put jeff on last years club and we still win the championship. you put yura on the 2006-2007 squads and they still miss the playoffs. neither of them would have been the primary reason RSL won the cup last year.

    Jeff Cunningham=Carlos Boozer

    More trouble than their worth with little dependability when it matters most.

    I guess I am still bitter at Yura, because in the MLS cup in the 70th minute, he had Robbie Findley, onside, wide open in the box, and could have had the go ahead goal, but instead he took on the keeper, and three LA players only to crank it over the bar. I yelled, "You Selfish Ball Hog!" Thanks to Nick Rimando, RSL still won the game.

    While I agree Findley was wide open... Yura was on the 18 with the ball at his feet, most forwards will let one fly (in his case, literally) from there.
    Also, I think the 1:45 mark might have a bit to do with it as well...

    Yes, but if that is the same attack that injured Ricketts, Robbie tried to pass the ball to Yura, he just didn't get to the ball in time.

    Yura didn't play in Monday's match for Randers. Don't see him yet in this one, either...

    Was a sloppy game to watch, Yura didn't play and didn't see him on the bench either.
