No, I am being completely fair. I have followed RSL from the beginning, in fact before the beginning. And have spoken to leadership many times. Most of all, I have watched what they have done. I am 100% sure that RSL isn't going to spend money stupid like Dallas or maybe even DC, and flamboyantly like LA. Its just not going to happen.

This shouldn't be taken as a insult. They are a blue-collar team, led by one of MLS's most prominent blue-collar stars (Kreis). Its kinda their benchmark at this point. Smart and frugal in MLS is a good thing, most of the time.

As for ex-players, Dipsy returns, now at Ajax Cape Town!

Alright, fair enough. If you've got private info to go on, you're doing better than me. I just thought that putting money into Espindola would have fit into that "smart and frugal" heuristic, and figured there was another reason besides having tight purse strings for not keeping him.

Does your experience with the team tell you where the ownership stands on league-wide spending changes (i.e. raising the salary cap)? Same as the spending on the team locally?

To be honest, I believe the team (ie Checketts) is one of the pro-Lamar Hunt spend-less crowd.

But I do believe now that the stadium is done, they will focus a lot more on the academy and the product on the field, for the very fact that they need to fill the stadium.

Whether they're doing well or not, they still have one of the greatest player names in history as their starting goalkeeper! :D

There are a lot of last names that are derived from ancestors' professions (Baker/Cooper/Miller/Carpenter/Cook/Hunter/etc). I wonder what his ancestors did for a living! :D

How many other players on that team have names with the letters "UCH" in the middle? I think you can be fairly confident that's the Good Dr.;)

And Kenny is playing for Hamilton Academical so I would say it definitely is him. He is the only player with UCH in the middle of his name on the roster.

At least the Scots have it figured out! I have always struggled to see how Ohio is considered mid-west.

Well, for you historical geography n00bs out there, when the nation started, Ohio was the west...and in the hearts and minds of those that matter today (ie the East Coast), it still is.

But your a Utah grad so I understand the confusion.

    ;)

Personally, I felt Deuchar failed here. We didnt sign him to be a versatile role player that made things "happen" on the field. We signed him to score and he didnt.

I am a physical geographer. So I see things based off of how they are. Answer this: If Ohio is the Mid-west, what region is Utah in? Ohio is more east than Utah is west (Closer to their respective coasts). The Mid-west should be relabeled the Mid-east (not middle east) Utah, Nevada and Colorado, Mid-west. Amen.

We should get all you physical geographers and descriptive linguists in some kind of no-holds-barred cage match. Last man standing gets to determine what mid-west really means.

Let me know how that turns out.

I've always called it the Mountain West.

At least they don't call the Mid-West the "Old West." THAT would be confusing!

And isn't the "New World" the same age as the "Old World?"

I've said it before, RSL would have been and awesome USL-1 team in 2005 and 2006.
