So, if haven't heard by now, there have been rumors about the three ex-Yugoslavian countries coming together to put a bid to host Euro 2020 together. Now, this might not sound realistic due to the politics and things of that nature but this would be in 2020 and the situation in the three countries will probably be much better than it is at the moment. And who knows, maybe by then all three countries will be regular qualifiers for tournaments by then, which would help out the cause to give us the bid. Now, in my opinion, this could only be a good move for Bonsia. If we were to host UEFA Euro 2020, we could get more exposure for our league, we could gain the sponsors nogomet is always talking about, we could get new kit sponsors as well, etc. Economy would probably grow as well, for competing in the group stages (or even farther) and the number of tourists going up. For me, only positives could come out of (co) hosting a big event such as this one. Now, for the possible stadiums. Usually, the requirements are two 50,000 capacity stadiums, three 40,000 capacity stadiums, and four 30,000 capacity stadiums. Now here are the possible stadiums we could use - 50,000 capacity stadiums: Red Star Stadium (55,538/SERBIA) ??? 40,000 capacity stadiums: Stadion Maksimir (is 37,168 --> rennovated to 40,000/CROATIA) Asim Ferhatovic Hase (is 35630 --> rennovated to 40,000/BOSNIA) Stadion Poljud (is 35,000 --> rennovated to 40,000/CROATIA) 30,000 capacity stadiums: Borac Banja Luka Stadium ??? (rumored to be 30,000/BOSNIA) Partizan Stadium (32,887/SERBIA) ??? ??? Three stadiums left means maybe Croatia works n the 50,000 stadium and Serbia/Bosnia work on the 30,000 one. Then you have the Partizan Stadium for the final, the Croatia 50,000 for one of the Quarterfinals and one of the Semifinals matches. Then all do one of the Quarterfinals, plus Stadion Maksimir does the semfinals that the other Croatia 50k doesn't. Finally, all four 30,000-ers host one of the groups in the Group Stages. And the UEFA requirements aren't even going to be shown until the year 2013, and we can build some stadiums during the seven year space. lol. I think it would be really cool. Your guys' thoughts on the possible bid? I hope we at least bid and if we do, there's no doubt we would get it solely on the fact that this would promote friendship (after the war, us hosting together) and UEFA's image would look very nice.
