With a lack of homegrown soccer news anyone want to venture a guess who will win The European Championship?
Group of death has Germany, Holland, Denmark, Portugal.
My pick to win the whole thing is Germany.

If I've learned anything from previous Euro Cups it is that nothing in this tournament makes sense.

I had initially thought that Portugal would go from almost not making it to winning it (a la Uruguay) However, with that group they are in, they could easily not win a single game as those teams will really expose that weak defense they have.

My pick to win the whole thing?
    No damn clue.
Is it going to be one hell of a tournament?
    you better believe it!

Instead of making a new thread, I'll just throw this in here:

With both Manchester teams crashing out, the CCL would seem to some as if it's lost a lot of luster. I, on the other hand, care to disagree.

    Group Winners:
    Bayern (A) Germany
    Inter (B) Italy
    Benfica (C) Portugal
    Madrid (D) Spain
    Chelsea (E) England
    Arsenal (F) England
    Apoel (G) Cyprus
    Barca (H) Spain

    Group Runners Up:
    Napoli (A) Italy
    CSKA (B) Russia
    Basel (C) Switzerland
    Lyon (D) France
    Leverkusen (E) Germany
    Marseille (F) France
    Zenit (G) Russia
    Milan (H) Italy

My dream (as a Milanista) match ups:
    Bayern - CSKA
    Inter - Zenit
    Benfica - Lyon
    Mardid - Marseille
    Chelsea - Basel
    Arsenal - Leverkusen
    Apoel - Milan
    Barca - Napoli

Two different tournaments. But will look forward to talking about both.

Machester United is out so my interest has waned. I'll still catch some games when I'm able to though.

Croatia is my darkhorse - but only because I served my mission there.

I'm not sure anyone from Group A (let alone 2 teams) should be allowed to advance. I'd rather three teams from Groups B or C.

Interesting that APOEL won their group since Zenit had a better goal differential, but then they start five brazilians and three portugese, so maybe wanting Milan to play them in the knock-out stage might be a mistake.

they are with some rather stiff competition as far as group winners goes.
who else would I want Milan to play? Benfica?

you can't play someone from your same league in the group stages or the first ko round. I think you can't even in the second ko round, but I may be wrong on that one.

Most have seen this draw but this is the actual Euro 2012 tournament, second only to the world cup in regards to soccer tournaments in the world.
Other tounament is Champions league also very cool but not in the same league and probably better in its own thread.

Below are some very interesting groups strongest (group of death) group B and weakest group probably group A.

My picks to get out of each group highlighted.

    Group A

    Poland
    Greece
    Russia
    Czech Republic

    Group B

    Netherlands
    Denmark
    Germany
    Portugal

    Group C

    Spain
    Ireland
    Italy
    Croatia

    Group D

    Ukraine
    Sweden
    France
    England

    Germany to win it all.

Draw has been done for Champions League:

    Bayern - Basel
    Madrid - CSKA
    Barca - Leverkusen
    Lyon - APOEL
    Marseille - Inter
    Milan - Arsenal
    Chelsea - Napoli
    Benfica - Zenit

I think the 3 matches featuring Italian teams are the hardest to call. Napoli is a very good side and will give Chelsea a run for their money. Inter and Marseille will be interesting as Inter (sadly) is making a resurgence lately. Milan - Arsenal, enough said. That one will be the most thrilling (though I hope Milan kills them).

The rest of the draw was meh. Pissed that Lyon got APOEL and Benfica drew Zenit. It seems every year that some random club from Portugal or Eastern Europe gets further into the tournament than they probably should because they get draws against other weaker sides.

    Wow. Group B is BRUTAL!!!

    I'm bummed if I'm Ireland.

Group D is solid. I disagree with George's Ukraine choice, but really any combination of those four could go on.

It's times like these that I wish I had cable/satellite. But really, I'd rather save $1000 a year. That's 2+ RSL season tickets.

Only picked Ukraine because they are home and did play well against a very strong German team. Also not that impressed lately with France, Sweden would actually be my darkhorse from that group.

These two tournaments, Euro 2012 and Champions League are a very big part of why I do have Satellite. Will be a huge soccer summer in Europe.

Will be in Europe and already looking into the Germany match vs Holland on the 13th. That match is in Kharkiv, any links to Ukraine?
