So with the tournament just around the corner I thought it would be good to create our own EURO 2012 thread, so with the 16 nations taking part which one will you be supporting?

    I will support:
    - Greece, because I'm Greek
    - Netherlands, because I live there
    - Italy, because of Daniele De Rossi

Italy followed by Russia (the latter just for the case that no one I know supports them. Moreover, it is the most hated team in Georgia)...

Barzagli pulling out for the azzurri, that's a massive loss if you ask me. Also Olic pulls out for Croatia

Is it certain he's out yet? However, if he's certain to miss the group stage it may just be better to go ahead and replace him with Ranocchia now.

Kind of agree that him to Bonucci is a notable downgrade I'm not as sold as many on DDR moving into the CB positition beside Chielini either.

    Yeah he's out http://www.football-italia.net/19586/balotelli-ok-20-days-barzagli
I'd go with Chiellini and Ogbonna, Ogbonna seems quite the player..playing DDR in CB would be a disaster in my opinion

I say no to Ranocchia. Better maybe astori or bocchetti

Guys I don't want to be the moderator tyrant, so by all means every chip in with your opinion.

Shouldn't we move all Euro talk to the Italy NT forum? BigSoccer has a ton of individual boards. I know some are slow, but by posting here and not there we aren't helping to change that.

We could post some Euro thoughts in the Other Teams thread, if we feel the need to get a Romanista perspective at times.

    What do you guys think?

I don't mind this thread. Some people(myself included) rarely leave this subforum, so it would be nice to have a place to discuss the Euros. And this isn't really meant to be an Italy NT thread(although most of the discussion went that way thus far) so I don't see why the discussion needs to be moved there. The more activity on our subforum, the better, I always say(though I know it makes more work for you :p).

Agreed, I read a lot of other forums here and have for a couple years. Mostly the Italy, PSG, and some English teams boards. I'll try and make an effort to post about the Euro in there.

I don't mind to be honest, I'm easy going...having said that I do believe that @Ragnaroz has raised a valid point about much people not leaving this sub-forum

I'd kind of agree about preferring Astori but I think it would almost certainly be Ranocchia called back in since he was the one on the preliminary roster.

About the EURO 2012 thread in the AS Roma section: I don't really see the problem with this thread but it would be nice if there were more posters interested in actual conversation instead of mainly arguing about whose favorite club player sucks or doesn't suck in the threads in those sections.

Good point. I rarely venture off of Roma, just on Napoli's youth forum, or Fiorentina a little bit to bust @NickyViola's nerves

I feel like they will get on us, and I'd rather not deal with Juventini

i gave up supporting a national team years ago. my dad is italian and my mom is german. i was born in portugal, but raised in estonia where i went to commie school. then i spent some time in romania and serbia where i met most of my best friends. then i spent a long ass time in germany where i had no friends and hated it there. now i'm in the US and loving it here

i "tried" supporting italy/germany/usa in the past intl tournaments but i really don't feel any pride when we win or lose. so normally now i just support the host nation. i rooted for south africa and any african countries during wc2010. now i'm gonna support poland/ukraine, then any eastern european country in eu2012.

Just don't ever try supporting Serbia to keep as much of your nerves as you can. ;)

Ogbonna paired with Chiellini keeps slipping my mind as an option and it could be the best one (or, at very least, the only one left that we know isn't terrifying).

Has Prandelli had him practicing at CB or always LB?
