So, here in Salzburg they're starting to set up for the massive amount of fans coming in June. Greece plays Sweden, Russia, and Spain here. So if anything, I'll be meeting a lot of Greeks at the bar. That's cool...I guess?

So, who's every rooting for? I've got ToonUSA down for Romania (GROUP OF DEATH), and I'm pulling for Germany.

I plan on rubbing it in the Austrians' faces when Germany crushes them.

Eng... oh wait. I'll probably go for Holland too, unless there is some NUFC player involved for another team. I can't support France, and I'll never forgive the Germans for how they treated my grandfather during the war... passed over for promotion time and time again *

    *Jimmy Carr joke.

I'll go for Croatia, if only for the reason that no one else will. And the English hope they fail miserably and stuff.

They aren't even in it so they are already like that.

No. I'm pulling for Croatia because the whole of England probably wants them to fail. We all know England suck. ;)

    Österreich uber alles!!!!!

Heh, gotta support my distant cousins. Btw, I can't believe I didn't think of this before, but you're actually in Austria. Is there any way you could get a SC Schwanenstadt jersey? Unfortunately, currently known as SCS bet-at-home.com. The state of sport sponsorship in Austria is pretty kooky as you know. They're in the Erste Lige. They almost won promotion last year but have fallen low this year. They're basically my ancestral team being just down the road from the family village. I'd be happy to pay you for the trouble of course.

Why is it that all these retards hold their flags upside down or backwards? And that's not a dig at Italy. I swear, every crowd shot I've ever seen in any match has I'd say about 1/3 of the people holding scarves/flags, doing it the wrong way. They look like idiots.

I don't really care if Croatia do well... or not. It would be fairly pathetic to hold a grudge because they beat us (I'm sure many of my fellow countrymen have fallen to this level.. and probably below). I was actually one of the few that thought the group was a lot tougher than "Football experts" in the press thought... they thought it was easy because there wasn't an Italy, Germany, Holland in there... never mind that Israel ran France REALLY close in the WC2006 qualifier. Or that Croatia are a good footballing nation and also a tough place to go (along with Russia.)

We should still have qualified but the arrogance of football writers calling the group "easy" showed how little attention they actually pay to the world game... hell the game at all most of the time. Still not like its their job or owt like that.

My Romanian isn't the sharpest but I don't think that translates to "Flame out in the group stage." That's what you were going for, right? :p

Nah, I'm only kidding. Kinda. I have a soft spot for the Romanians, but let's be honest, they're in a tough group and most likely going nowhere.

Of course they're in a tough group, but I don't agree with going nowhere. The side is completely revamped and are excited to be finally playing in a tournament after missing out on the last 3. They've already proven they have the guts to stand toe to toe with one of the big fellas and look forward to taking on 2 more. I see France and Holland flaming out of that group.

Italy is Italy and I think Holland will be more apt to try and win something for van Basten than they would be to lame-duck it. That's not even mentioning France, whom I think would be the least difficult team for an underrated Romania side to get past. But the other two are full-fledged giants of the world game and have been for a long, long time.

Holland were a shell of their former self in qualifying. Van Basten was outcoached in both matches by Piturca. Why are they going to try harder to win for him now? None of the players liked him was one of the reasons given for their dismal form in qualifying.

I don't think we'll beat Italy. Never said we would. France doesn't exactly strike fear into me, but that doesn't mean they aren't capable of netting 3 or 4 a game.

    Romania plans another suprise

I like Romania, don't mistake this for anything otherwise. I'm just not sold.

That said, I hope I'm wrong.

Well you won't understand because you think too logically about it.

For example: since they are Italian they cannot be wrong about the Italian flag, any Italian holding the flag in any way is the correct way. Now since you are not Italian, you are incorrect about them holding the flag the wrong way because its not the way you hold the flag its the way you wear the flag that counts.

How do I know you are not Italian? because you criticized a bella donna for holding the flag whilst fully ignoring the way she held the flag and how her holding it emphasized the "correct" flag over her ample Italian heart...:)
