The American Soccer League of the 1920s had a lot of Scottish and English players throughout its decade of existence, and I know that from about 1926 onward the league started seeing more Austrians and Hungarians enter the league. One thing I want to know is what other ethnicities/nationalities were represented. For example, were there any Russians or Yugoslavs? This is unlikely, but were there any African players? Asian players? Latin American players?
Tewfik Abdallah - Egypt Viktor Andersson - Sweden Joe Begos - Poland Herman Bleich - Germany Knut Gustafson - Sweden Olof Johansson - Sweden Kalman Konrad - Serbia Eric Larson - Sweden Dicko Magnusson - Sweden Pavel Mahrer - Czechoslovakia Werner Nilsen - Norway Nils Nygren - Sweden John Anthony Reder - Poland Samuel Schillinger - Czechoslovakia Kairo Schylander - Sweden Frantisek Sedlacek - Czechoslovakia Max Soehl - Germany Gunnar Strom - Sweden Thore Sundberg - Sweden Gerrit Visser - Holland Those are the internationals I could find in Colin Jose's ASL book. I excluded Canada, Northern Ireland, Ireland, England, Austria, and Hungary, all of which were greater than any on this list.
I stumbled onto this ethnicity breakdown for the ASL: http://books.google.com/books?id=1Z...nality of european players in the asl&f=false
