Times up and LPB lose. Not the prettiest game but Madrid's defending was really sloppy. Pepe especially had a terrible game.

Normally I'd say winning at the San Siro is a tougher prospect than winning at Celtic Park, but this year might be different. :p

And Ibra scored for PSG in their win at Dinamo Zagreb. Always brings a meh to my face.

essien would normally have replaced khedira there, but he was already covering for their missing full-backs. they really missed having a real DM out there. wouldn't it be awesome if dortmund and ajax make it out of this group?

The LPB loss hurts Man City more than it hurts LPB. They pretty much need 9 points from their last 3 matches. :geek:

Would be ... but I doubt it will happen. Ajax will most likely crumble at the Bernabeu. What may happen is Borussia topping the group. But I still think RM will come back and top it.

Admittedly I watched the Arsenal match today. And they look awful! Didn't get their first shot on goal until the 93rd minute. At home.

Yes! I predicted the 2-1 result, got $650 for getting 6/7 results, I would have got 3500 had Man City drawn!

So the stat of the week: Juventus have now drawn their last 9 European matches. Yes, nine! Their last non-draw in Europe was a 4-1 loss against Fulham back in March '10.

Hmmm... I just checked LPB's European record on wikipedia and could not find one victory against a German club on German soil.
I also only found 23 ties.
    0-1 v 1860 Munich, 1967 European Cup
    2-2 v Borussia Mönchengladbach, 1976 European Cup
    0-2 v Bayern Munich, 1976 European Cup
    1-5 v Hamburg, 1980 European Cup
0-0 v Carl Zeiss Jena, 1982 UEFA Cup
    0-5 v Kaiserlautern, 1982 UEFA Cup
    1-5 v Borussia Mönchengladbach, 1986 UEFA Cup
    0-2 v 1. FC Köln, 1986 UEFA Cup
    1-4 v Bayern Munich, 1987 European Cup
    2-3 v Bayern Munich, 1988 European Cup
    1-1 v Bayer Leverkusen, 1998 Champions League
    0-0 v Borussia Dortmund, 1998 Champions League
1-4 v Bayern Munich, 2000 Champions League (second group stage)
1-2 v Bayern Munich, 2000 Champions League (semifinal)
    1-2 v Bayern Munich, 2001 Champions League
    1-2 v Bayern Munich, 2002 Champions League
    1-1 v Borussia Dortmund, 2003 Champions League
    1-1 v Bayern Munich, 2004 Champions League
    0-3 v Bayer Leverkusen, 2005 Champions League
    1-2 v Bayern Munich, 2007 Champions League
    2-3 v Werder Bremen, 2008 Champions League
    1-2 v Bayern Munich, 2012 Champions League
    1-2 v Borussia Dortmund, 2013 Champions League

Either I missed a tie somewhere or they are counting the 1959 final that LPB won over French club Reims in Stuttgart.

So good to see LPB not only lose, but be outplayed. Too bad Man City lost, otherwise their presence in the next round would be in danger.
BTW, all the other Spanish teams are currently leading their respective groups.

Interesting how the groups are shaping up halfway through:
A: Porto (9 pts) and PSG (6) looking pretty. Dynamo Kiev had a chance to claw back into it because they will host those two in MD4 and 5. The other Dinamo (Zagreb) looks adrift as they still travel to Porto and Paris.

B: Schalke's win at the Emirates basically puts them in pole position, but Arsenal are uncomfortably in 2nd knowing a bad result in Germany will open the door for Olympiakos.
C: Málaga bossing it! Perfect record and no goals allowed. Would be great to see Zenit nip Milan for 2nd.

D: All the win today means for Dortmund is that they held court. Still a tough trip to Madrid to come, and LPB could be back atop if they avenge today's loss. Citeh are screwed. They absolutely must win the 3 remaining games to even have a sniff of survival. Ajax in spoiler role.

E: WAXTAP look good, but Chelsea is in a similar situation to LPB: avenging their MD3 loss at home means they can go top. Juve is the mystery. Their next 2 games are at home vs. Nordsjaelland and Chelsea, so if they learn to win instead of draw, it eases pressure for the MD6 trip to WAXTAP.

F: 3-way tie for first between Valencia, BATE and Bayern! Lille, with 0 points, play their next 2 away at Bayern and BATE, so they will likely end up with zilch. This means Valencia is a relatively good position: they play BATE and Bayern at home, then a potentially nothing-to-play-for Lille away on MD6.

G: Perfect 9 points for Tito's boys, but next 2 are away at chilly Celtic and frigid Spartak. Get the win in Glasgow and Tito can bring some scrubs to Moscow. Whichever of those 2 teams--Celtic and Spartak--get points off Barça will have one hand on 2nd place, otherwise it rests on their MD6 showdown.

H: ManU in a similar position to Barça, perfect so far but with 2 away games to come, albeit in warmer climes: Portugal and Turkey. Dark-horse Cluj has 4 points, and with MD4 and 5 at home, they have a solid chance of keeping 2nd place. If they slip up in either home game, they have a tough task in the cauldron of Galatasaray's stadium in the group closer.

Hmm, well naturally I just poached this fact from somewhere else, in this case it was the matchticker commentator on ESPN who said at the beginning of the night that LPB was 1 for 23 heading into this one. And he specified against German teams in Germany, so that French team shouldn't count.

He then immediately predicted 2 - 1 to Borussia so this guy must know something.

    (Maybe it was VEB. :D)

EDIT: this CNN article says that lone victory happened in 2000.

I think this was my favourite group stage day ever in the Champions League. Malaga win; Man City, Madrid and Arsenal lose.

Now Man city will play their ass out in next 3 matches, hopefully they'll beat LPB:whistling: , although I'll predict a draw. The weirdest part of last night match was I played PES as Man city against Ajax and I lost 1-3:ROFLMAO:
