Just got this in the email from DISH... Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this a 20% increase over last year's subscription prices ($249...am I remembering this correctly?) Jarrett
If it actually was ALL of the exciting action, I would buy it again. But it's only 1-2 games a week right?
DirecTV had the package at $267 last year with single games at $19.95, have not seen the price for this season.
"Individual weekend package" - does that mean both the saturday and sunday match for $29? Man it's gonna sting paying for this stuff when I get home.
For Dish Network it was $269 last year. Still very expensive. I am disappointed it went up another $30 this year. I will get it though I guess. I will be broke for a few months paying this off. Oh well. As someone said, it is an expensive habit.
I've subscribed to this package for the last 4 years but I'm seriously thinking about not re-upping this year. With FSW now showing all of the PPV matches on 72 hour delay, you won't miss any games, you just won't see them as they happen. Then again, if I don't see them when they happen, I'm sure I'll know the result ahead of time and will be less likely to watch the matches. At $150 this would be an easy choice for me, at $300, I'm starting to wonder about its value...
I usually just get a few of the higher profile individual matches, but no chance I'll pay that much this year. They lost me and I'll tell them so. Between the boring CW tour and this, I'm happy to follow MLS.
what do we have to pay every month for ? i pay $ 50.00/ month for my directtv satelite, now we have to pay again to watch games ? ... all games should be included in that monthly satelite pay in my opinion...
Girlfriend went ballistic when she found out I spent cash on the DirectKick ... she might have a heart attack, keel over and die if I got EPL package.
DirectTV confirms pricing of $299 (or 4 payments of $74.75) for the season and $19.99 per game. http://www.directvsports.com/Packages/EnglishPremierLeague/
I've been waiting to see the price...and now I'm going to have to pass. Last year I really enjoyed seeing the games on PPV w/o all the FSW hoo-ha all over the screen and without their crappy announcers interrupting to plug a sponsor. The downside of the PPV feeds was the crappy sound and poor production. If it was a SKY b-cast I'd buy it because I like seeing the pre-game, halftime and post-game commentary. I think when that becomes available and the production values improve I'll considering buying PPV again.
i'm not sure i should announce this but what the hell..... I'll be giving bit-************** links to most sunday 11am est matches (the good ones) starting on august 15th. the BT links will be available in less than 6 hours after completion of a match. so, if you can wait until sunday night, it'll be there.
With the price getting higher, I think more people will do BT for the PPV Premiership games than wait for 3 days for the FSW broadcast. Using BT, most people would be able to watch the game Sunday night. It would be interesting to see how FSI can stop, or even whine about Chinese web-sites that post these EPL ************** files. I mean, Murdoch is a nobody in China, a country that absolutely disrepects intellectual property. Anything that appears on TV/theatre is fair game... Murdoch's ESPN Asia is banned in China, because all the games ESPN Asia broadcasts must appear on CCTV5, the nation's sports channel. FYI, the BT of all ChampWorld games and the Ajax invitational tournament are available on Chinese websites...
rangers00, i think you know what site im talking about. anyways, you think bigsoccer moderators would mind if i post the links on the business and media forum?
www.soccer-media.com go to video sharing and then matches ; use altavista translator. go the bittorent thread in the beautiful game forum for help. good luck
FWIW, I cross-referenced Sky Sports schedule with the info posted at SoccerTV.com, here's my best guess at the PPV schedule through Christmas. I've highlighted some of the more attractive fixtures, from my point of view. Same price as Dish TV (which is what I have). Do you know if they show the same games? Dish does not give you any information about what games they will be showing and the URL above gives at least a couple of days of programming. Question to those of you who have laid out your $$ for one of these packages in the past -- do they tend to show pretty good teams, or cheesy bottom of the table teams? Go Gunners!
PPV games are always the same- FSW picks the games and the carriers just show them. The Sunday PPV games for the first half of this season are excellent, including most of the Man U v. Arsenal v. Chelsea v. Liverpool games, except for Man U v. Liverpool which is a Monday game on FSW. The tendency is to show the big teams on PPV if possible, followed by teams with American players (Man City and Fulham). Commitments in the European and domestic cup competitions can dictate the TV schedule after Christmas.
get a new girlfriend and enjoy, Soccer is Life i think i will pay as i go, last year watched probably 10 games on PPV at the $19.95 price, so i'll see,
