That's how it's always appeared to me too. Capello has never liked Cole - probably because he likes to dribble without simply relying on pace and isn't great defensively. Joe Cole should have been used more at the World Cup. There wasn't a single English player who player at that tournament who could trap a ball, let alone dribble it. Cole had a disastrous season at Liverpool, but they ve written him off too quickly having rarely given him chances playing in a stable side. He was looking good in pre season from what i saw.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/oct/14/joe-cole-lille-england This is great, he's making a big effort and so far it's been paying off for him on the pitch.
http://lesrosbifs.net/2011/06/transfer-former-ajax-defender-lawrence-signs-for-sparta-rotterdam/ After Jong Ajax decided not to pick up a one-year option, Jamie Lawrence has joined Sparta Rotterdam's youth system on a 12-month deal.
that's old, old news. shame though. good for him plying his trade abroad. ex QPR and Arsenal if i remember right.

Michael Mancienne started and played 45 minutes yesterday in Hamburg's 2-1 DFB Pokal victory over Eintracht Trier.
I don't think that Capello has a downer on Cole per se. It is just that Capello's reign has coincided with Cole's injuries and loss of form. I think that if he can prove himself consistently he will get his chance, although there are a few ahead of him in the queue at the moment.
Capello plays in a 4-4-2 ? I hardly see Joe taking a spot in this system, apart as a forward, just behind the main striker.
Good for him, I wish more players would go abroad.. i can't see any argument against it, better weather as well probably.
the fa should be looking to set up players in appropriate clubs. in italy the 'powers that be' generally afix players to clubs, and their method of success over the ages (copied from arsenal as it happens) is to have the majority of their players in the big 3 italian clubs. the mls set deals up for their players to go abroad and improve their national side. germany, wether by design or accident , have, other than for a brief period in the late 70s/early 80s and early 90s, generally had the majoruty of its players at bayern. all these things aid them, or might aid them in the future vis usa, in producing a competitive national team. what do our fa do? lol. can you imagine dave richards or gareth southgate or stuart pearce etc having a single contact outside of britain? or to have the ability to bring in a system of moving our younger players abroad for a 2 years tour of duty to a slower paced feeder league, like france, italy or germany (i chose my words carefully) which would benefit pretty much every single one of them.
Michael Mancienne went the full 90 as HSV came back from 2 goals down to draw 2-2 at Leverkusen. The draw moves HSV out of the automatic relegation zone.
After making 73 appearances for Esbjerg between 2008-2011, Englishman Kevin Conboy (dual citizenship with Denmark) moved to Eredivisie side NEC Nijmegen this year. Currently has 4 league appareances.
