just seems very uncertain to me which is understandable considering his age and experience but decision making has been one of this strengths so far this season
Luke Garbutt made his Premier League debut today for Everton. Always gonna be hard for him with Baines there.
Wickham gains the Premier League player of the month award. First time an England U21 player has won it since Gabby Agbonlahor in 2007.
Southgate said that he wont be taking any of the U19 group to the Toulon as U19 qualifying will take precendence. The squad selected for the U21 qualifying game against Wales will be the Toulon squad but just with the ineligible players taken out (1992 born players).
Just seen a quote from a while ago from Southgate about Flanagan. He went to reassure him that he's still in his plans after not picking him and is even now saying he might be going to the WC - He must have forgotten about him when picking the last squad. Amazing.
I find it quite strange how Southgate could forget about him though? It is kind of hard to miss one of the best young English full backs who is playing for a top team week in week out, fighting for the title.
It's bizarre but I can't think of any other reason why he would not pick him. It ended up with the situation of Rodgers and Flanagan fielding questions as to why he isn't in either squad. Then Southgate has to go see him. That's the third amateur screw up of the Southgate reign.
But Shelvey and Southgate were in contact with eachother and seemed to have an agreement on what was happening. Flanagan had no idea why and I don't think he has ever been called up under Southgate. So if he's not picking players because he thinks they are senior options it's a major communication error with the player and with Hodgson. I think he's just forgotten about him.
We are just lucky that he isn't able to qualify to play for ROI or he would probably be gone by now. The next squad should be interesting.
