I know Pearce is enemy number one on this board but he does get good results. What is it last 8, 4 and 2 in the 3 previous Euro's. Only the Spanish and Germans are better.

Results at that level of football are secondary to style of play and giving the right players experience. Look how he treated Cleverley and how many times he played Rose as a leftwinger when he would have benefited massively from more experience at leftback.

    Is that 4-4-2?

    Steele

    Kelly - Bennett - Caulker - Rose

    Marshall - Henderson - Shelvey - Ince

    Wickham - Waghorn

The Pearce selected team and formation is just so ridgid (4-4-2!!) and predictable for Norway, no fluidity and expression, too many players static and isolated, minimal creativity and goal threat in opposing half, fortunate to be 1-0 at half time!!

Yeah, it was grim last night. I really struggle to watch these games now. Nice to see Wickham get a goal.

I wish that link would mention style of play though. They never seem to mention it but we can go to tournaments and barely create anything or keep the ball and it's still deemed EXPERIENCE.

Drawn against Serbia in the Euro U21 play off round.
Matches to be played in mid october.
Hard to tell if it's a good or bad draw,
they won their qualifying group ahead of Denmark so likely to be a strong side

    The play-off draw in full
    Spain v Denmark
    Italy v Sweden
    Czech Republic v Russia
    Slovakia v Holland
    Germany v Switzerland
    England v Serbia
    France v Norway

They'll have some terrific players available like Ljajic and Nastasic.

It will all depend on Serbia calling back their players already in the first team or not.

Shelvey scored a brace and Wisdom scored on his competitive debut for LFC in the Europa League. Scotland will be all over Shelvey trying to recruit him now. He has come on leaps and bounds since last season.

Shelvey needed those goals and more.

Nice to see Harry Kane getting a Premiership loan move. Hopefully he does well at Norwich.

Young Leeds united winger/left back Aidan White put in a brilliant performance for us last night, but he's been allowed to be poached by Ireland U21s, and they have given him the captains armband as well. I think he could become a really talented player, Pearce should try and bring him back into the England fold

Andre Wisdom made his first Prem appearance today for LFC, playing the entire match at Norwich. Wisdom was playing at RB and put in a very comfortable debut performance.

Could this be the year we don't qualify - let's hope not. Rodwell a defender?
I've seen a better choice of forwards.

Not sure what Powell has done to get called up. Other than move to Man Utd. Surely if any 1994 midfielder were to be promoted it would be Ward-Prowse? Then again Ward-Prowse isn't the type that Stuart goes for I guess.

I would have Ross Barkley still in the squad considering some of the other options picked.

I know I should stop moaning about Pearce but he's picked about four players that can play right back in a 26 man squad and only one left back who we still can't rule out him dumping at left wing.

The selection seems random as usual.....typical Pearce....... anyway, two big ommissions are Joe bennet and Carl Jenkinson .

Jack Robinson has been added to the squad to replace Clyne and Lansbury who picked up injuries. Andre Wisdom has just picked up a knock and been withdrawn too.

A training session of the U21's is below...

With Walker in the senior squad, Kelly out for the season with an ACL, Jenkinson undecided & now Clyne out - depth at right back is certainly being tested.

I think Wisdom played RB when I watched Liverpool play Young Boys in the Europa League.

Edit: Just reading a post of yours above, he also played at Norwich in the League.
