Amazing first half in alot of ways. We were trying to play defensive but had players struggling to adapt at times to new roles.

Chalobah is wasted at right back. We don't have enough quality centrally dump him there.

Kane has done well although he has to keep coming from so deep. Lovely strike from Lundstram.

Can we sneak a result? France don't look great defensively but it's much harder for us to attack in this formation imo. Can only really counter-attack.

2-1 up at halftime, Lundstram and Kane with the goals. France having better of play though.

The GK's are playing a complete different games, Johnstone hoofing it down the pitch the majority of the time and the French build from the back with their GK.

hmmmm. Not sure what to think? I have no issue with defending but pretty much two spells of twenty minutes in both halves of defending so deep and countering.

Getting tired of seeing so little ambition with the ball and no risks taken in youth games.

On the positive side we have a game against Greece that is winnable. Some decent performances but I can't defend this style.

So am I. Tbh i'm clinging to hope that our fabled new "Technical Director" might sort things out at all levels. He would have to be a strong character though.

Yeah we do face Greece now which is better than Spain. I wonder if there will be another new RB for that game?

It's certainly not the style of play the FA coaches are forever talking about.

Call me a conspiracy theorist but I think they start to hype up performances that aren't televised to be far better than they are and then when we have a live game the quotes are far more balanced.

It's all very frustrating because we've had years of time to plan things and so little has been done by the likes of Brooking.

People like Pearce and Blake are just trying to win games first and foremost and we are wasting so many opportunities. We aren't going to change anything at senior level playing in this manner continuously.

Think he might be more focused on future coaching and improving their quality and Brooking's role will continue.

England holds on and goes to the Semis..To bad France benched most of there starters..Youth results are not all that important though..Alot of clubs did not release there best players for this tournament which is a shame..Developing these players for the national team is the most important thing though in the end..

It would be a shame if he is sorting out all these new coaches and not notice the deficiencies of those in our current youth structure. Also this "Future Game" document has been created before the Technical Director has been appointed. I wonder if he would want to make any amendments.

We'll have to wait and see but these roles seem to be talked about alot and then end up being very specific with jobs that don't really even relate to the job title. Like Southgate's role. Brooking went on about that for ages.

Yeah, a lot of people still ask what Southgate does when they hear his job title. The only reason we are (supposedly) appointing a Technical Director was because Sheepshanks got critised about not having someone in that position when talking about St. George's Park abroad to other FA's.

First I've heard of it but think it would be a good move for him to leave.

I can't get sound - did Blake say anything of particular interest?

Not really. Went on about results and how he thinks the team has improved through each game. Not to take Greece lightly and so on.

Penalty England and a red for the Greek keeper. Awful decision.
