Nice to see Baxter get on for Everton today.

Spot on with the report zXen but he was definitely being hawked around before Liverpool offered him something. I know for sure that he played a few games for Stoke U16s but they weren't interested.

A colleague was formally on the board at Cov and on the basis of how he describes the politics there it sounds like a bit of internal points scoring. Who knows?

Mark, you have most likely seen more youth games/reserve games than me. So in your view who do you think is the best and second best English keepers in the 92 and 93 year groups?

He didn't do that bad either! I'd have preferred him on the field to Anichebe.

With the injuries he might even get a start soon. Hopefully all the off-field stuff is behind him because he does have talent.

Yeah he makes things happen whenever he comes on, it'd be nice to see him play a full game.

He was really highly rated at Everton and I assume they still rate him alot now too. I also remember an Everton fan on one forum betting with an Arsenal fan that Baxter would get capped for England before Wilshere.

I've probably seen a good sixty percent live and of course you can get an idea from watching the club channels.

I couldnt narrow it down to the extent you suggest Barry but the top group in my opinion and in no particular order is:

    Steer - Norwich
    Butland - Birmingham
    Parton - Stoke
    Blackman - Chelsea
    Woods - Man City

I'd throw in Lynch at Bolton but he simply and unfortunately isn't tall enough which is why Man U let him go.

I think that was just foolish pride really, had Baxter not had his problems he still wouldn't have. The set ups are different. We'd never put a youth team out in a cup because it's a viable trophy for us, not a back up. Had they both played for Arsenal, perhaps.

Thanks. Just wanted to get your views.

I haven't seen Parton at all. I'll keep an eye out for him. I think the City keeper has already played for Scotland so might be out of the reckoning now. I don't know much about him but have seen a bit of him.

I like Butland the best personally. At U17 level his positioning was the best I've seen from an England youth keeper at that level. Might not be saying much that he is the best at U17 level because we have had quite a few shockers but still.

Yeah, it was after Baxter had a very good pre-season at 16 I think. A few got carried away :)

Ever since we had Rooney/Jeffers, everyone seems to think we're a superstar factory.

Connor Wickham scored a hattrick tonight.

That's 5 goals in his last 3 games I think.

:) I didn't know which thread to put it in now because I don't know where he will be the next time the squads are announced.

He's really doing well atm. Hopefully it can continue.

Can't see him being an Ipswich player for longer than a year at this rate.

Good to see Wisdom come back, we could do with him back in the U19s. Thomas might be in contention for an U18 call up.

Ravel Morrison did really well tonight and got the winner. Man U will now face Liverpool in the quater-finals. I reckon whoever wins that will probably win the whole tournament.

I would make Man Utd favourites because they have more experience. Liverpool have quite a young squad. A few of the Man Utd players are massive at this level too.

Given Sterling's sterling form and both of United's first-choice strikers missing, I would say it is the other way round.

Will Keane only has a dead leg, so he should be back for game. Morrison is going to be getting more games now leading up to the Liverpool game so he will sharper. It is going to be a very close game imo.

Liverpool have got back Wisdom from injury now too, so that will be a bonus for them.

Blake should be watching as it concerns a lot of U19 players.

Keane should be back from a dead leg by then surely?

Liverpool need Wisdom back in defence too. I still think Man Utd should be considered favourites.
