Apparently it was a defensive lapse. Failed to clear our lines so it wasn't exactly all skill from the Italians. We can do better and be more disciplined.

Just 10 more minutes. Italy are really pressing now. They know what they have to do.

We've scored! Solanke makes it 2-1 in 71st minute. I'm assuming we scored on a counter-attack.

Italy will have to score twice in less than 9 minutes.

EDIT: Now less than 5 minutes to go and still the same score. It gets harder and harder for the Italians.

Sims and Cooke replace Cook and Solanke respectively in the 78th minute.

EDIT: Mitchell replaces Brown in the 80th minute.

I'm pleased we won it - rather than clinging on to a draw. Although I'm sure there was a lot of "clinging" on for grim death going on.

Its pretty amazing that these group of players won all 3 games without Roberts, Crowley, and Rossiter. It shows how deep we are.

I'm thinking the FA probably recorded every game and will put highlights up when they get back to England like they did with the first set of qualifiers.

So that's just Spain and France of the big nations not making it.

First time since 31 March 2011 that we've made the finals. I was watching out for the Germany match in the hope that they would get knocked out because it usually effects how many live games of ours are shown on Eurosport. Would be annoying if it's just the one group game.

Armstrong was top scorer in all of qualifying too. Nice accolade for him.

i hope we call up roberts for the tournament but leave rossiter at home. he has played no part in the preparations, give his spot to someone like cook or cooke who have earned their place

A few years ago the Germans didn't make it but they still only showed one of our group games.

If we have no injuries I have high expectations. With Crowley and Roberts back it will be such a strong team.

I don't care, Rossiter should still be called up. Its not like he chose not to partake in the matches. He was in the qualifiers and helped out big time. I really like how Cook has progressed. 2 years ago he was very highly touted and I guess slimmed down a bit, but now he is proving his worth again.

Are you guys sure ? I didn't watch last year's Euro U17 because there were no interesting teams but I watched it in 2012 and I remember that there were 2 matches per day and both were shown live on Eurosport.

Oddly the FA have uploaded highlights of the Czech Republic game and the Italy game but not the Albania game yet.

What year group was that? I'm trying to remember but can't think of it.

They did do two live games a day when I watched but there are always four games a day in the group stage. So two are always not on live.

It seems Rossiter has ********ed em about once too often. It would send out the wrong message if they picked him for the finals - that's if he would deign to go.

Would it not have been the clubs decision to pull him?

I thought it was 2 games a day. You are right - there are four matches a day in the group stage. I completely forgot about that. Damn, that's not good.

Yes but I am sure he could have gone if he REALLY wanted too so unless we have injuries I would leave him out

I thought it was the u17s. I'm resigned to just the one England group game. Pity someone else doesn't buy it though and do a decent job.
