Juni or BlueRebelZ, Any idea why Kiwomya is being ignored by England ? Only 2 U16 caps, would have thought he may have made this squad.
Another strange one is Byron Lawrence still not getting an England selection and has got his senior debut for Ipswich already.
Dan O'Brien who is now at Villa is on standby. Been on standy quite a bit now and never capped. Seems strange that people have jumped ahead of him even though he's already been around the squad for a while.
Largely experimental squad this is, as Guardian said, makes sense to give new & younger ones their chances.
Tbh Kiwomya has been 'behind' Bennett, Brown, Sinclair, Green, Gilliead and even Fewster who made the squad v Spain but Kiwomya didn't. With him getting not much of an opportunity at u16 level, I would have thought he would have made this squad.
A new squad will be picked for a home tournament that will be played at the end of August. So that will involve the more regular players from the last U16 level.
Callum Jones, Connor Ogilvie and Bradley Fewster are the previous '96 born players that have been capped. Callum Burton has been called up before. Lewis Cook & Jordan Rossiter are the '97 born players capped with Freddie Woodman being called up before.
They may have thought Kiwomya had plenty on his plate (so to speak) with his involvement with the Chelsea u18s and their cup run to the final. But it's true he does look like a runner learning to play football. It's interesting how he doesn't seem to run flat out - but still seems to get puffed out after a bit of a run. In the second leg of the final against Blackburn a few times he seemed as if he might be clear but let the defender back at him to make a tackle.
Seems strange Man City haven't given him a scholar though. In fact a slap in the face. Got England recognition now, impressed v Liverpool u18s and their intake isn't large this time but there is a move to target foreigners and they have signed about 5 to 6 of them already.
It was pleasing to see Jerome Sinclair scoring three well taken goals for Liverpool in their 8-1 win against an Exeter youth side. (Bit embarrassing to see Michael NGoo still turning out at that level though. )
I had a number of reservations about the Liverpool striker Jerome Sinclair but he seems to have come on a lot since the summer break. They have only played a couple of weak teams in preseason so far, so one shouldn't make to much out of it but his finishing has been very impressive. Unlike some strikers he seems confident on either foot and happy to give the ball a bit of air to avoid the trailing legs of the keeper. (I'm reminded of that missed effort by Barinhio(?) on his left foot that could have put us through to the final)
Three changes to the U17 Nordic squad. McHale replaced by Kyle Bailey, Oseni replaced by Ben O'Hanlon and Rossiter replaced by Danny O'Brien.
Our first game Monday - tomorrow. Let's hope a couple of genuine prospects stake a claim. I'm looking to us to win the Euros next May.
Doesn't seem too impressive - I'm assuming the Faroe Islands aren't much cop. But they got the win in the end.
Peacock has selected his FAIT Squad: Goalkeepers Daniel Atkinson (Leeds United, Angus Gunn (Manchester City) Defenders Josh Aina (Chelsea), Max Clark (Hull City), Callum Jones (West Bromwich Albion), Connor Ogilvie (Tottenham Hotspur), Ashley Smith-Brown (Manchester City) Midfielders Reece Brown (Birmingham City), Kean Bryan (Manchester City), Charlie Colkett (Chelsea), Dan Crowley (Aston Villa), Connor Hunte (Chelsea), Bryn Morris (Middlesbrough), Oluwaseyi Ojo (Liverpool) Forwards Mason Bennett (Derby County), George Green (Everton), Alex Kiwomya (Chelsea), Jerome Sinclair (Liverpool) I'm surprised Reise Allassani isn't getting into any of these recent squads. http://www.thefa.com/England/mens-u...ges-park-international-tournament-squad-named
That seems better - 4-2 against Finland - O'Brien 2' Regis 60' Fewster 72',79' The one big ommision from the new squad is future England star Loftus-Cheek. Is he injured again?
The obvious two omissions are Leftus-Cheek & Allassani as mentioned. The Arsenal duo of Iwobi & Brown as well. Glad Kiwmoya is getting another chance.
