Parker would also look decent in the Championship.

But frankly, England don't have ball playing defenders bar Johnson - it's not like we have a player like Agger. In fact England don't really have any ball players full stop.

The more I think about it, the more I think this is a good appointment. It won't be pretty, but it might effective.......until the inevitable penalties

Re the format, they tweaked it a little since the initial changes - quite liking it now. Don't be so stereotypically British and refuse to accept changes ;)

If it were to come to pass, than we would be in dire straits..He would be a poor mans Gary Neville in that position...

Smalling has a groin injury that will make him miss Euro's according to @JShepchenko

    And Parker is a doubt.

It's "funny" how Smalling's stock went down when Jones went to United and "everyone" started going on about him being the new Duncan Edwards (even people who have never heard of Edwards before). The more Jones was bigged up, the more it seemed Smalling was deminished.

    Anyway, pity he's out.

Smalling is a versatile player. Might have been a good squad option .

Smalling have done well mostly, has been troubled by injuries all season. Evans form and Rio better fitness didnt help his chances (highest tally for Rio I think after a number of seasons).

Yeah, too bad Smalling won't make it... Both Smalling and Jones play much better when playing for England.... It's usually the other way around for most of our England squad.. These two have consistently delivered for England ...
