Gazza would grace the first page of any thread. Always useful to watch a compilation of his every now and then if only just to remind yourself how bloody good he was.

I have an Edgar Alan Poe-type image of how that unfolded:

Pearce enters the FA wine cellar, where he finds Hodgson sitting in a secluded corner...

Pearce: You wanted to see me boss?

Roy: Yes Stuart - wanted to give you a little test...

    Pearce: Go on...

Roy: I'm going to ask you to write something on this piece of paper - but before you do, I want you to think long and hard about your answer. Don't write a thing until you think you have an answer.

Pearce: Okay boss... what do you want me to write.

Roy: I want you to write down what a trequartista does.

Then while Pearce is busy pondering this, Roy Hodgson has enough time to brick off the entire section of the cellar that psycho is standing in...

It didn't look to me like he expected it at all. Why would Paxman or his staff tell him what he was going to say when he always relies on the shock factor to make his guests nervous. Barton got even more nervous after it too. He was awful throughout the interview and made a few funny errors for someone who cliams to be so intelligent.

Not sure what you even mean by the bolded bit but I don't think Paxman is scared of being attacked

His pseudo intellectual routine doesnt hold up under pressure. He has abit of canned material to always brings out to make him seem "smart" . Lets hope QPR go down so we dont have to hear from him for ages .

Two points from the games today.

Chelsea's older players will likely be knackered by the end of this season. Obviously they should go but it is an issue.

Carroll can offer something that no other forward of ours can. I know he's had a below par season but considering his age and what he offers I think he should go. I actually think he's done well lately for quite a while in an awful team.

Yeah, his act was a bit funny but is boring now. I still have a slight grudge against Mark Hughes because he dropped Joe Hart and bought Given. So I wouldn't care much if they went down.

Now that England have got a decent manager in charge I may well have a punt on them to win Euro 2012/WC 2014.

Roy wasn't the english media's first choice though, eh?

Oh no, they went for 'Harry' who the FA absolutely detest - which is why he didn't get the job.

    I backed Roy @16-1.

He has experience in Switzerland (amongst others) and knows more about football than 'Harry ('brown envelope') Redknapp.

Need I say more? Probably best not to - but I do know more.

.....Far more than you'll ever hear on Talksport or the BBC - or read in the Sun newspaper (which seems to be anti-Roy for some reason)

    Funny ol' game football......eh?

For strikers I would take Holt, Rooney, Zamora and Welbeck

in the 23 man squad he will need at least 8 defenders and 8 midfielders (as well as 3 goal keepers), it might be more useful to accomadate an extra midfielder as we are stronger in that area, and have many pacey/versatile midfield players, rather than a token forward that won't even get a game. As long as Hodgson takes no injured / unfit stikers, four should be perfectly fine.
