Even the Air Force Academy is bringing in Germans to play for it! In fairness, he appears to be a US citizen with a German mother who was raised abroad. Still, I'm going to guess he's the ONLY player in college soccer who answered the standard media guide question person in history you would must like to meet with... Konrad Adenauer, the first chancellor of West Germany! http://www.goairforcefalcons.com/sports/m-soccer/mtt/durr_kevin00.html
I hadn't thought about Adenauer since college but because of reading that kid's bio I went and read Adenauer's wiki page and he really is a remarkable and influential person in modern Western history. I can see the appeal of wanting to talk to him, particularly for a German.
The US Naval Academy used to have 2 brothers from Costa Rica on its soccer team ... these two guys were attending the Naval Academy as part of a exchange program that brings in men and women in foreign military forces to attend our nation's service academies. Here is the Navy Soccer roster with the Costa Rican brothers: http://www.navysports.com/sports/m-soccer/archive/navy-m-soccer-mtt-08.html

Reactions: The top 4 teams in the conference put 5 players on the first team. (2 Maryland, 2 UNC, 1 WF, 0 Clemson) Belshaw over Goodwin for goalkeeper? I know that the UNC defense makes Goodwin's job easy and he doesn't have to do as much as Belshaw, but he still has the highest save percentage in the conference (and .22 GAA is not too shabby either). [/end of biased rant] Also, don't know if Bekkar has done enough this year stats-wise to get first team honors. Then again, Mikey Lopez only has 5 points this year. So... And Darius Madison and Boateng were so good that they both made the All-Freshmen team twice. Taylor Kemp still received 2nd-team honors even with an injury-plagued season. Good for him!
Another point: Taylor Kemp is outstanding player when healthy. However, team played 8 matches, he play full 90 vs BC & NCSU and only 76 min vs UVA. He didn't play any other ACC gms until play-offs. Guess making 2nd team is living off prior years.
The player I feel was shortchanged was Okoli. He led the ACC with 6 in-conference goals and added 2 assists, as well, but was only 2nd team all-conference. Contrast that with Patrick Mullins, who had 3 goals and 2 assists and was Offensive POY.
Coaches love consistency. From what I remember, he's had bursts in a 2 or 3 games but hasnt scored consistently throughout the season.
If you told me that one Maryland player would win a Player of the Year award, I would've bet the bank on Ambrose being Freshman of the Year. Also surprised that Dakota Edwards didn't make the freshman team. Maybe his bad game against Wake came at the worst possible moment
Yeah, that's a real head-scratcher for me. Goodwin leads the country in GAA (0.22) and save percentage (.900) and he might break the record for lowest single-season GAA in NCAA history (0.21). Yes, he has a good team in front of him but those stats ain't worth first team all ACC?
They only had Okwuonu make first or second team of the defenders too, so it's a harder sell to make that the backline is so great that they completely shield Goodwin. Makes absolutely no sense to me at all.
I am glad that 3 UVa players made the All-Freshman team, but I think leaving Carroll off was odd. In only 13 games, he is second on UVa in goals (4) and points (10) as a CB.

If Akron does not win the national cup, will it be because the lone starter not on an all-conference team held them back?
